Cesar Mojica Carmona could be eligible for parole in about 30 years.

Friday, May 09, 2008

SAN MARCOS — Cesar Mojica Carmona took a deep breath and swallowed hard Thursday morning as he heard the sentence a Hays County jury had given him: fourteen concurrent life sentences and a $140,000 fine for what officials say was the worst case of child abuse in county history.

Mojica Carmona, 24, was convicted last week on 14 counts of injury to a child for starving, biting and otherwise abusing his three children. Hewill be eligible for parole after about 30 years. Mojica Carmona had turned down a plea deal with a lesser sentence. His lawyer said he plans to appeal the jury's decision.

Foster mother Terrilyn Curtis hopes to raise Mojica Carmona's three children and a fourth child who was born to Mojica Carmona's wife, Sara Amaya, after the couple was arrested. When Curtis heard the sentence, she covered her face and cried, saying only one word: "Yes."

Over the course of the almost three-week trial, jurors saw more than 100 photos of the children that were taken after they were removed from the family's trailer in the Dripping Springs area. Bite marks, bruises and scabs covered the bodies of Mojica Carmona's then-4-year-old daughter and 3-year-old twins, a boy and a girl.

Mojica Carmona admitted to causing some of the injuries, including the bite marks, but he said throughout the trial that he hadn't realized several of their bones were broken, including the twins' legs, which doctors say prevented them from walking.

One of the most vile human beings I've read about in a long time. He should have been executed already.

Well, he will definitely suffer in prison. A lot. I wouldn’t expect him to last more than a few years.

Perhaps these ‘parents’ fellow prisoners will do to them what they did to these children.

Violent gang member, and from Mexico of course!

Should give him a radical plastic surgery operation to change his looks and hire him out as a nanny to one of Teddy Kennedy's relatives.

Another illegal criminal taxpayers are having to foot the bill for for the next 30 years and then he'll be out on our streets.

“Defense attorneys had asked the jury to consider Mojica Carmona’s past and give him probation or, at the most, 20 years in prison. According to Mojica Carmona’s testimony, his mother abandoned him in Mexico when he was 18 months old, and he grew up thinking that the beatings he received from family members were normal.”

This is about a dozen times this excuse has been used...
‘it’s normal where I came from’.

Nonsense. Hang him.

That's what I was told when the monster who attacked me was sentenced to 85 years in the Texas Penitentiary. He has been in for 17 years and will go before the parole board (again) in February 2009. They came close to releasing him last time.
