Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Thursday that pressure from the auto industry will not deter California from attempting to impose strict emission rules for vehicles sold in the state.

The Republican governor met privately with seven auto executives who requested the get-together. In an interview afterward, he said he told them "the train has left the station" and that they should stop challenging California rules that are intended to help slow the rate of global warming

"We think there are some positive steps we can take," said McCurdy, a former congressman from Oklahoma. "This is a journey. This is not the final outcome. We are committed to reducing CO2."

"I [Schwarzenegger] said, 'While you're whining, you should be creating new technologies.

Schwarzenegger should try to verify the globull warming "science". These politicians are starting to look really stupid.

Schwarzenegger challenges automakers to meet Calif. rules

How about somone challenging Schwarzenegger to stop robbing the people of Kalifornia? To reduce taxes, to make housing more "affordable" by easing "green" restrictions, etc. The source of uber liberals Boxer and Feinstein, that is one f....d up state.

I would like to see the auto makers just stop selling cars in California. Tell the Jerkanator if you want these types of vehicles, you build them.

President Bush backed Ahhnold over a true Republican;President Bush said Clinton was his "brother";...people we have been had!

The statists aren't even bothering to hide the fact they are all part of the same oligarchy. The candidates only differ in the speed and methods which they propose to destroy American freedom and bring about the NEW World Order.

If I were an automaker, I would lower prices in the Phoenix market, the Vegas market and the Portland market and stop selling cars entirely in California.

I wonder what the emissions and mpg are of the vehicles that Gov. Schwarzenegger drives/owns compared to the national average.

Does he avail himself to “best” choices available today?

Auto sales is the single largest source of revenue for most cities in California and a huge part of the States revenue. The mere threat of stopping all New Car Shipments to California would cripple the economy immediately and Then Governor Shriver and his Branch Algorians will immediately change their tune. If the train truly has left the station I hope and pray nobody was on it except Shriver and his Cult. Everyone should immediately start lobbying this group to Not Buy Any Tickets for this train to Serfdom and Stop shipping to California Today. I will be more than happy to buy my vehicles in AZ.

Why doesn’t he instead challenge the Legislature to rescind the rules, for the good of the California economy? ;)
