Liberal demoRATs cause the problems, but then only want to be seen as as riding to our rescue on a white horse.

Precisely. They Democrats created Medicare and Medicaid into what it is today. The government pays providers pennies on the dollar for care. The providers then pass on the cost to the private sector. That is why health care costs are rising so fast, especially since more and more people are signing on to the government's "free" health care gravy train.

I think the US should shop for hospitals, medical procedures and operations in foreign countries such as Singapore, India and etc where excellent facilities, doctors and etc are available at 1/3 the price of US facilities and etc which more than offset the airline ticket and hotel stay. Maybe US insurance companies should be investing their premiums in upgrading and improving overseas hospitals/med centers that produce many doctors/nurses who come and work in US hospitals and attend our schools, and making them available for US patients. I think the global outsourcing to good foreign and low cost Asian med facilites and services would help reduce the med bill for many Americans. PS - no waiting list for organs, Chinese can provide just in time body parts for those with cash at fraction of US cost and time.

Look at the amount you are paying in state, federal, local, property, and sales taxes and fees and tolls and surcharges, it is staggering.

IF you reduced the tax burden to a reasonable percentage people could afford health care.

Like death is a cure for pain.

We believe America needs a universal health care plan, based on the principle of shared responsibility.

The responsibility will be shared only by those who are forced to pay. Those who aren't forced to pay--the "poor"-- will share no responsibility for their own health care. Thus will proceed the infantiliization of a significant portion of the American populace, the increased slavery of those who demonstrate actual responsibility by earning enough to be taxed, and the increased power of the nanny state.

“We believe America needs a universal health care plan, based on the principle of shared responsibility.”

The author should be more attentive to his attributions for quotes...especially one from a world famous book like “The Communist Manifesto” by Marx and Engels.

"Curing Parkinson's, diabetes, Alzheimer's or cancer should be a national priority of our health care system."

When drugs hit the marketplace promising cures for these diseases, you can be sure that democrat controlled and democrat-loving trial lawyers will make $$$ billions trying to sue them off the market.

IIRC the original 1993 Hillarycare system determined how many, and what specialties the various doctors, nurses, etc would enter. It was nationalization of health care. Her current proposal is short of nationalization, but there is no doubt where she and the rats want to take us.

With the specter of government takeover, I wonder why any young, bright person would seriously consider medicine. Why work so hard for so long and run up huge student loans only to be told one day that you are a government employee?

This should put an end to the lie that the DLC is “moderate”, not that it ever was anyway.

Quite the contrary, to curb ever rising costs, a national health system will resort to rationing care with patients suffering from chronic diseases the most likely to see cuts in care. If a loved one has Alzheimer's Disease don't expect a government health care program to pay for the treatment of heart disease or cancer in that patient. If your 85 year old father needs a pacemaker, don't expect a government health care program to do anything more than put him on a waiting list. If you suspect you have cancer, your government health program to make you wait to see a specialist and wait again for specialized treatment. If you are expecting a high risk birth you may find there aren't enough neonatal intensive care beds thanks to your government health program.

People expect a government health plan will give them all they care they now receive for a pittance. They will be sadly mistaken.
