A ten year old rape victim has given birth to a baby in eastern Idaho while the suspect, Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez, 37, of St. Anthony, has been arrested.
The girl purportedly gave birth to a baby less than 2 weeks ago at a hospital in Fremont County. It wasn’t until the hospital reported the girl and the birth to authorities that Gutierrez-Juarez, an illegal immigrant, was arrested and charged with one count of rape. He remains in jail with a $250,000 bail, the next scheduled hearing is May 13.

While the girl in Idaho had her baby at the tender young age of ten, another girl half her age became famous for giving birth at age 5 years and 8 months old.

If he’d only taken her to Planned Parenthood for an abortion, they would have concealed her age and let him get away with the crime, perhaps to continue raping her.
I doubt that was the case reported in the article of the 5 year old who gave birth back in the 40's.

Probably not, but the rate of this happening has risen dramatically in the past 20 years. It is likely an environmental influence.

I blame the hormones in pretty much all the meat and milk we feed our children. When we had temporary custody of our granddaughter, we only fed her hormone free food. Now with her parents at 8, she’s showing early signs of pre pubesence (sp?) I also think part of it is genetic. In my experience raising kids, children with northern Europeans genes develop later than southern Europeans or African genes. Our granddaughter’s birth father is from South America. Finally, girls who grow up in homes where there are males who are not genetically related to them develop earlier. I learned this raising an attachment disordered adopted daughter. Can’t believe I know this much about this topic. sigh.
Where were the parents? They are arresting the guy when the girl gives birth, 9 months after? If this would have been my daughter he wouldn’t have lived long enough to be arrested.

In some cases in South America, it has been definitively traced to hormones used in agricultural production, and lack of controls on how much is used. I’m sure a lot of the milder cases are due to steroid-mimicking plastics and hormone medication residues in our drinking water. The nutrition issue isn’t a matter of “improved”, it’s a matter of “excessive”. In girls, at least, puberty is reliably triggered by reaching a certain weight, not age.
But I have a bigger question. Why weren’t this girl’s parents arrested too? It sounds like she was already VERY pregnant before her parents got her the medical care which led to the report to law enforcement (anything before third trimester, and the state would have taken custody of her and seen to it that she got a therapeutic abortion). In what sort of household does a 10 year old not tell her parents she’s been raped and do the parents not head to police and doctors immediately? And even if the girl had been scared into silence by her rapist, an early second trimester pregnancy would be VERY visible in a 10 year old, even if the parents didn’t know the underlying cause of her abdomen having sprouted a big lump.
The only situations I can think of is if the parents and maybe child are illegals or somehow the parents where involved. Otherwise they would not be afraid to report the crime.

Could also be this. A friend and I were at the beach last summer and were absolutely amazed at how large the breasts of 12/13 year old girls are. I know for a fact NO ONE my age back in the day had chests like that.

I read somewhere (uh oh, random speculation again) that there is a “magic number” for the onset of menstruation in terms of BMI and body fat percentage. So these days, girls are likely getting periods/starting puberty earlier because they have a higher % of body fat at a younger age.

Not really. For every girl that displays early puberty signs, there are many many more who are LATE maturing. We just notice the ones who mature early. It was the same when I was growing up in the 1950s and 1960s. There were girls who were having sex out in the woods in 5th and 5th grade. And there were girls who were pregnant in 7th and 8th grade. Most of the girls who got married back then were already pregnant. I was lucky I was in the slow to mature group. No one was interested in me!
I think that’s a small part of it, but even my mom said she knew girls who had their period at 9 or 10 and this was in 1960.
