Brilliant move. Too bad they haven't managed to outlaw militant Islamist acts of terror. When you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. The UK has plenty of armed outlaws and few armed subjects. They even have "knife control" laws. Next they will outlaw rocks, beer bottles and cricket bats.
As silly as her campaign was and is, the woman DID lose a child in the Dunblane massacre.
So ‘smug’ is a harsh word.
She lost a child in the 1996 Dunblane killings.
A feeling of self-satisfication and self-righteousness that goes against all fact and common sense is “smugness”.
A person can be pitied and yet be smug at the same time. Cindy Sheehan is an example of such a person.
Ms. Pearston’s campaign has not led to less children being killed by guns, but to more children being killed by guns.
“Smug” may be a harsh word, but pushing an agenda that is killing other mother’s children seems a bit harsh as well.
