“...don’t race the horses, don’t train them, then they’ll live good lives out on the farm...”

Right from the horse’s asses mouth. Anyone who knows horses knows that trained, ridden, and raced horses ARE happy horses. Misty of Chincoteague was a damned manic depressive.

Here’s a great memory exercise: Name one tragic event in the last eight years that some leftist group hasn’t tried to take advantage of to promote their own agenda.

Remember that PETA opposes all domestication of animals whatsoever, including all horse racing. So when they say “bad jockey,” they’d say that about anyone involved in the industry no matter the horse’s health.

"The death of Eight Belles may have been rare because it occurred well after the finish line, but it's just the latest trauma to happen at a major race on national television. Two years ago, Derby winner Barbaro shattered his right rear leg at the start of the Preakness, with more than 100,000 people gasping at the site of the undefeated colt in distress as he was led into an equine ambulance."

And what about the colt George Washington collapsing at the finish line of last year's Breeders Cup Classic at Monmouth Park, NJ. He too was destroyed on the track in front of the grandstand. The winner, Curlin, would go on to be named 2007 Horse of the Year.

People need to learn to ignore PETA and not give them any credibility. Everyone is playing into the hands of a very few NUTS.
