Pastor Kirkland patiently explained that Parrish had been a teen-age member of the church and expressed an interest in becoming a minister. The church issues "licenses" as a form of encouragement to young members who express such an interest. Pastor Kirkland stated that the license confers no authority or standing whatsoever.

In other words, Parrish asserts that he is a Baptist minister.

Fred Phelps makes the same claim.

For that matter, Reverend Jeremiah Bullhorn's replacement at Obama'a church, Rev. Otis Moss III, "served as pastor of the historic Tabernacle Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia."

Seemingly "Baptist minister" doesn't have the same meaning it did when I was growing up.

As for putting his personal info on the internets, he really must be a moron. (Not that it isn’t already known). As for the story itself, I see no need to make a big kerfuffle about it. McCain has done at least a few hundred townhall meetings, and I’m sure that he’s dealt with more than his share of moronic questions.

If I were McCain, I'd have answered the question with the question, "How is that relevant to a Presidential campaign?"

If I were McCain, I then would have given the nod to the security people who must have been in attendance and then engaged this person in further banter until he could be removed. Simple play.
