LINCOLN, Neb.Anne Hobbs was angry. The head of the Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission had just learned of a Hispanic couple who said their landlord asked for their driver's licensesbut didn't ask the same of non-Hispanic tenants. Hobbs said it sounded like the couple were "treated differently than everybody else because of national origin," and sent the case to the state's top prosecutor, hoping he would sue on their behalf under fair housing laws.
When Attorney General Jon Bruning received the case, he was angry, toofor a different reason than Hobbs.
"I'm not going to use taxpayer dollars to file lawsuits for illegal aliens," said Bruning after learning the couple was in the U.S. illegally. "You're not going to get a free lawyer" from his office, he said, "if you're not a citizen of this country."

Leaving aside the overall point of the article, I find the complaint itself very hard to believe. How would they now he didn't ask anyone else? And, what kind of landlord doesn't ask to see ID?
Woohoo!!! I like this guy. Any chance he'd go up against McAmnesty?
I have had to show a drivers license to rent in the past, I have had to provide proof of employment and was charged for a credit report before I rented.
I think the latino couple must show proof to a court that no other person had to show normal id and ability to rent before any lawsuit.
Bruning for President.
It must be easier to be sensible in Nebraska because there are so many sensible people there!
Nebraska is ranked second best in legal fairness in the country according to the Institute for Legal Reform:

Bada boom, bada ping!
Heh..I get a full credit check or you dont get keys to my property...AND you get to pay for it...
Word.
Thanks, for fixing the title.
It appears the irony of that statement is totally lost on Mr. Haskins.
The tide is slowly turning against illegals.
Bruning will be a Nebraska senator once Nelson comes up for re-election again.
Exactly. I have lived in a few different states, and every single one of the Landlords wanted to see ID. Another libtard lawsuit attempt.
A landlord would be a fool not to scrutinize and record DLs at least
I just called the Attorney General’s office and gave him a complement and told him to keep up the good work.
