The Real Reason Why Rev Wright Dissed Obama
American Thinker ^ | May 01, 2008 | Geoffrey P.Hunt

Posted on 05/01/2008 9:58:34 AM PDT by vietvet67

On Tuesday morning, following Rev Jeremiah Wright's incendiary National Press Club appearance, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said on ABC's Good Morning America that Rev.Wright "went out of his way to weaken Obama...I think Reverend Wright has a greater interest in his self-importance". Indeed Rev Wright is deliberately damaging Barack Obama-but for a more cynical reason than ego preservation.

For sure, Rev. Wright's supersized ego has boxed out Obama's ambition. But ego preservation pales when compared to Rev. Wright's real purpose -- keeping the pledge payments flowing and collection plates full. Wright's root agenda, in perfect alignment with the far left Democratic Party politics of indignation, has been to capitalize on the misfortunes of others, to stoke both race and class resentment, offer a platform and voice pipe for the permanently aggrieved all to fill his own coffers. Rev Wright has amassed the equivalent of a small fortune not by finding solutions but by recycling a permanent state of self-inflicted misery, despair and bitterness. His appeals to the perpetually aggrieved have been rewarded by their willingness to part with their treasure to hear their complaints, some imaginary the remainder of their own making, resonate from the pulpit and center stage at Trinity Church.

As a grievance monger, instead of problem solver, Wright never promises -- and would never promise -- actual solutions. Why would he? Solutions would dry up the money pipe. Why would the permanently aggrieved willingly part with their treasure to hear that their complaints have been fixed? They wouldn't. How could the politics of indignation be sustained when one of their own became the president of the United States? It couldn't.

Rev Jeremiah Wright's worst nightmare would be Barack Obama as president. Rev Wright's entire raison d'etre would evaporate. But this should come as no surprise. The politics of indignation, sans solution finding, fueling fund raising and fostering a permanent underclass voting block has been the far left modus operandi since Gene McCarthy, George McGovern and Jimmy Carter hijacked the Democratic Party from Scoop Jackson and Pat Moynihan.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright is but the most egregious practitioner of the far left's politics of indignation. The democrats' approach to the energy crisis is far more typical. The US could be energy independent in ten years if we resumed building nuclear power plants and drilling for oil and gas in Alaska and the offshore waters of the continental shelf and constructed new refineries. Moreover the bold target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 80% by 2050 could be easily attained if every coal fired power plant were replaced by nuclear. Why won't the democrats agree to it? Because it is a solution. Solutions are not the foundation for fund raising by democrats, environmental extremists or global warming activists. And that's why Rev Wright has no interest in seeing Barack Obama as president. Because it is a solution.

Barack Obama may yet be elected president. If so, the politics of indignation will have run its course along with its money pumps. Grievance mongers, led by the likes of Rev Jeremiah Wright, may then have something legit to complain about, after all.

Holding the black man down is now the job of the black establishment. Ironically, the so-called ‘the Man’ is black leadership.

It's simpler than that. Wright is an albatross around Obama's neck. By publicly "dissing" Obama, Wright gives Obama the "cover" he needs to break off his association, without ever having to having to disagree with Wright on general principle. Obama now gets to call the whole thing "old news" and pretend this his break from Wright distances him from Wright's lack Liberation Theology bulls***, without ever having to actually denounce it.

Clever.

Somehow, I doubt it would end. It might be worse. There might be the hopeless frustration that the promised Messiah was a dud. And a mass of hopeless frustrated who were taught we were the cause is scary.

RE post 5, you are absolutely correct, sir. If “boutique” gasoline blends were eliminated, and filling the SPR stopped you would see an instant decrease in gasoline prices.

Solutions is antithetical to the ideology of the entire left. Except for a bit of iffy punctuation on the last sentence of the second paragraph, it's a pretty good piece. But what's Obama's stake in this?

The man reveals himself more every day as being as completely absorbed in furthering his own personal ambitions as either Clinton, while pretending to be as blind and naiive as Hillary claims to have been about her husband's affairs. Of course, he would be a disaster along the lines of Jimmy Carter as president. He has no best interests but his own at heart. But the excuses for the economic and national security chaos he would cause are likely to be in place already: whitey kept him from achieving his full presidential potential.

Yep. Wright's been AWFULLY quiet since Obama did his little "scales fell from my eyes after 20 years" schtick the other day.

You'd think he'd be a bit more HURT and ANGRY at the way a man he loved like a son, and who USED to profess to love and respect "his personal and spiritual mentor" in return, suddenly turned out to be a selfish, conniving b@stard who was only using him as a leg up to a successful career, then then tossed him like a snotty Kneenex when he had no further use for him. Wright sure doesn't SEEM like the type who'd take that sort of thing lying down.

Just for the record, Obama is pro nuclear power. He is backed and given big money by nuke power interests. Google it if you doubt.

Wright had to torpedo Baraq because Baraq disrespected the Chicago black power structure. He was an outsider without slave roots that they, like a crime family, took in and supported. He slapped them in the face and it became Wright’s job to bring him down. Wright’s bodyguards are Fruit of Islam goons. Remember what they did to Malcolm X.

It’s the way criminal syndicates work, that’s all.

IMO if Hillary is nominated, Hillary will be the next President. The dissatisfaction with the Republicans is palatable in this country today, and no one cheats like the Clintons.

However, if Obama were nominated, it would accomplish two things.

1) Racism would be greatly diminished in this country as a complaint against the nation, per se. For a black man to be elevated to such a position would be a wonderful testament to a color-blind electorate and that is a good thing for our country and our children.

2) Because racism is still very much an issue in this country, McCain would be elected by a sizable margin.

I don't understand the likes of Rush and Hannity and O'Riley banging the drums in support of Hillary. I think they're playing a losing game, at best, and a duplicitous game, at worst.

Cui bono?

Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton is too much of a dynasty for most Americans to stomach (although I'm not sure a McCain Presidency changes that situation all that much.)

Ayup. The entire basis of the Democrat platform is the culture of victimhood. There has to be a problem or a crisis, someone to blame for it and perpetual promises of solutions. The same class struggle that Marxism relies on to appear valid.
