Rep. Douglas Bruce was ordered today to stay away from a female staffer who lodged a complaint against him, several of Bruce's legislative colleagues say.
The Colorado Springs Republican this afternoon was handed a letter by House Speaker Andrew Romanoff. Bruce's face turned red when he read the letter, and then met briefly with Romanoff in his office.
Bruce would not comment afterward.

That’s nothing. Go ahead, Republicans. Propagandize/vote Hillary into office and see how fast the “good ol’ boys” (as they’re called by feminists) fall from business and politics. While you’re at it, learn quickly to speak an Asian language and become very humble. Being slaves of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for a while will fix that “citizens of the world” outlook.
Sounds like many people have it in for Rep. Bruce. We need more people like him in the state house.

Given that the scumbags in the Colorado legislature would do anything to get rid of TABOR, it would not surprise me to find out it is a setup.

Don't know the details, in this case, but I know what I'd look at for evidence.

The boat needs rockin'. With all the publicity Bruce gets, I would think his name recognition is very high. Sure would be nice to see someone like him in Washington.

Bruce was appointed to vacant seat (previous rep. move up to Senate) by a vacancy committee. His first election will be this fall and he has a strong Republican challenger.
Opening day of the legislature he kicked a photographer trying to take his picture, for which he was censured. First censure in a long, long time.
He was a county commissioner and already had a reputation for being very difficult to get along with, friend or foe.
He pissed off Republicans and veterans when he voted against a resolution honoring veterans. He claimed it was on some principal of his.
Then he was kicked off the rostrum recently by the chair when he called immigrant farmworkers "ignorant peasants."
The leadership is anxious for the jerk to be out of the legislature. The Dems have been crushing us with oceans of money from 527's and this looks to be a tough year for Republicans everywhere. We don't need Doug Bruce as an anchor pulling us down.
I have no idea if this complaint is valid or not, but the fact is Dougy has used up all his cred with both parties, so no one will feel the least bit sorry for him.

While Bruce espouses conservative priciples, and I pretty much agree with him philisophically, he is an obnoxious jerk personally. He draws attention to himself with negative behavior which, unfortunatly, reflects badly on the conservative agenda.
Andrew Romanoff Takes Aim at TABOR; Overlooks Amendment 23’s Sunset Clause

Andrew Romanoff has repealed a plan in the guise of fixing the state budget to repeal Amendment 23 and portions of TABOR. The Rocky Mountain News summarizes the plan:
Tax surplus refunds under the Taxpayers Bill of Rights would permanently disappear and instead go to fund education under a proposal by Democrat House Speaker Andrew Romanoff.
Romanoff said the measure would get rid of automatic spending increases for education, as required by Amendment 23, and take the state budget off of “autopilot.”
Gov. Bill Ritter was quoted elsewhere as calling the plan “bold and elegant.”
What Andrew Romanoff doesn’t bother to mention is that the provisions of Amendment 23 are set to expire. From the Colorado State Constitution:
Section 17. Education – Funding. (1) Purpose. In state fiscal year 2001-2002 through state fiscal year 2010-2011, the statewide base per pupil funding, as defined by the Public School Finance Act of 1994, article 54 of title 22, Colorado Revised Statutes on the effective date of this section, for public education from preschool through the twelfth grade and total state funding for all categorical programs shall grow annually at least by the rate of inflation plus an additional one percentage point. In state fiscal year 2011-2012, and each fiscal year thereafter, the statewide base per pupil funding for public education from preschool through the twelfth grade and total state funding for all categorical programs shall grow annually at a rate set by the general assembly that is at least equal to the rate of inflation.
Andrew Romanoff is trying to deceive everyone into believing that his plan to neuter TABOR and Amendment 23 is simply in the interest of fixing the state budget. While Amendment 23 has been a great burden on the budget, it is set to expire right after the 2010 election. The budget problem will go away on it’s own very shortly and TABOR will remain intact if no action is taken. Instead, Romanoff is using the specter of the soon-to-be-expired Amendment 23 as an excuse to try and slay TABOR in one last hurrah before being term-limited out of office and fading out of the public eye forever.
The real answer to the problem of Amendment 23 is to cut wasteful spending, not to pass massive budget increases as we enter a recession, and to wait one more budget cycle until it is gone once and for all.
At the end of the day, this is just another Referendum C—style hoodwink by the Democrats to try and worm out of the fiscal constraints put forth in TABOR.
