Climate Change Bible by: Bethany Stotts, April 23, 2008

While some global warming skeptics may have accused climate change believers of placing undue “faith” in murky science, some professors have already elevated the cause to a Christian edict. In his recent column “The Ultimate Ethical Issue?,” Professor David P. Gushee casts combatting climate change as Christianity’s ultimate moral test—and dismisses family values and constitutionality in the process.

“The data is in: Human beings are indeed culpable [for climate change],” comments the Mercer University Theology Professor. His article appears in PRISM, a publication of the progressive Evangelicals for Social Action (ESA). He points to the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report as proof that we face violent hurricanes, drought and famine, coastal sea rise, and other existential threats that will soon wipe humans off the earth.

And what should America do about this impending disaster? Implement cap-and-trade, of course. Gushee writes, “Specifically, the U.S.—along with the rest of the world—must implement a cap on carbon emissions within the next two years.” After that, the world “must” eliminate “carbon-emitting technologies” by mid-century.

Professor Gustee does not mention any technology by which to implement this policy, nor does he address the economic implications of the policies he advocates.

“For consumers, cap-and-trade means more expensive gasoline and electricity as well as net job losses in energy-dependent sectors,” writes Heritage Foundation Fellow Ben Lieberman. Analyzing the costs of America’s Climate Security Act of 2007 (S.2191), Lieberman places the tab at

• an additional $800 to $1,300 in household annual cost by 2013 • electricity cost increases between 35% and 65% • between 1.2 million and 2.3 million lost jobs.

Conversely, the bill could increase Congressional revenues by $1.19 trillion between 2009 and 2018....

“The data is in: Human beings are indeed culpable [for climate change]”

That's is folks, that data is in, the discussion is over. Any opinion to the contrary not only makes you a "denier", but a heretic as well. What a tool.

“Professor Gustee does not mention any technology by which to implement this policy, nor does he address the economic implications of the policies he advocates.”

That’s because most college profs are clueless when it comes to real world economics.

When they tell me I can’t burn wood in my fireplace any more I’ll just have to start burning plastic bottles and containers. After all, we don’t want them in the landfills...

Jesus was not Robin Hood. He never took from the rich to give to the poor, He told us how we should live, and allowed us to make the choice.

Contrary to modern liberalism, the Bible and Christianity are guidebooks that we are supposed to follow, but we aren’t forced to. We are expected to be stewards of our environment, but it is up to us to decide what that means. Since there is no proof that I am doing anything to harm the planet, I feel no remorse for choosing not to “stop global warming.” I live responsibly, drive the vehicle I choose to(which happens to be a truck that gets 15 mpg), and don’t do reckless things to the environment. That is what Christians do, and it is an individual choice.

Anyone else notice that when people were forced to give to the poor through social programs, as opposed to willfull charitable giving, they quit caring about other people? That isn’t a coincidence.

Global Warming: What Would Jesus Do?

Well, we can look at this two ways. First, he was a carpenter so he probably would have driven a diesel powered dually to work every day. Second, he had many apostles so he would have needed at least two Suburbans to get them around. I don’t think the ultimate answer to global warming is in the Bible. But I am not an open minded liberal arts professor.

Ok, here’s the question: When “climate change” is eventually proven to be a natural that has nothing to do humans, will all of the “experts”, professors, politicians (and pretend politicians) be called to account for the global warming voodoo science??

I’m not holding my breath on that one.
