We Learned a Lot From How Obama Responded to the Ayers Question.
National Review ^ | 4/23/08 | Jim Geraghty

The Powerline guys have audio of William Ayers, in 2007, describing the United States:

"Empire resurrected and unapologetic, war without end, an undefined enemy that’s supposed to be a rallying point for a new kind of energized jingoistic patriotism, unprecedented and unapologetic military expansion, white supremacy changing its form, but essentially intact, attacks on women and girls, violent attacks, growing surveillance in every sphere of our lives, on and on and on, the targeting of gay and lesbian people as a kind of a scapegoating gesture to keep our minds off of what’s really happening".

The problem for Obama isn't that his ties to Ayers are so close (that we know of so far). Ayers hosted a party that was, effectively, the first fundraiser for Obama. They served on the Woods Foundation board together, and he spoke on some panels. That's not as close a relationship as with, say, his mentor Jeremiah Wright, but it's a lot closer than most Americans will ever come to a person who set bombs in public buildings.

But what is really revealing about this mess for Obama is that when asked about it, the candidate reacted with a mix of surprise and indignation that we haven't quite seen since, "I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again: I did not.. have... sexual... relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." Recall, Clinton's finger-wagging tone wasn't striking just for the audacity of the lie, but for the barely-suppressed outrage; Bill seemed genuinely offended that anyone could accuse him of such a thing.

In the case of Obama, he clearly felt that George Stephanolopous asking about this was completely out of bounds. That no one in their right mind could possibly be concerned, disgruntled, or disapproving of associating with someone like William Ayers. As Obama insisted, this is just a professor who lives in his neighborhood.

But the average professor who lives in the neighborhood didn't set bombs, even a long time ago.

Obama could have easily said, "I met Ayers and worked with him briefly, but I don't like him. I don't have any use for those who set bombs, or those who enthusiastically praise the acts of Charles Manson" (as Bernadine Dohrn did). But he didn't. In this whole set of circumstances, Obama felt that Stephanopolous was the one out of line.

Obama has completely surrounded himself his entire life with those that DESPISE America.

Now he has received the endorsements of MoveOn "betrayus".org, Michael "Cuba is paradise" Moore, and Hamas.

If the Clintons manage to kneecap this POS, it will be the first real service they have performed for America.

Good article. One surrounds oneself with like-minded people. The proof is in the pudding.

You seem to assume they didn't know what he was...I think they did:...

And a review:

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left (Hardcover)
I had long wondered why people on the Left had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit their throats than they do about their own country, which affords them more freedom and opportunity than anywhere else. David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly and convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and confused, I now feel crystal clear. Unholy Alliance is such a great book.

It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century, and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American attitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same impossible utopia.

Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once G.W. Bush implemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving components of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on individual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz covers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alliance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding.

This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoning clear. Horowitz is just that type of person! In the terrain of mindless clichés (no-blood-for-oil, etc.), he is a breath of real fresh air.

Obama's relationships with this admitted terrorist, his vile racist preacher, vile wife and anti American bs artists have been ignored by the Chicago Media and the MS leftw wing mediots.

Now his dark side/not his skin color is being exposed, and he thinks that it is unfair.

As Bubba Clintoon would say, "Put some ice on it Hussein and quit your whining. You ain't heard or seen the really bad stuff!"

Obama is Leftist toast, and what’s funny is that when Hillary steals the nomination from him the party will further weaken.

Great picture.

Reminds of our Grandaughter and Grandson. She is 18 months older, very fast, very athletic and super competitive.

Our grandson starting coming into his own last pee wee flah football game. Both of his parents had to be out of town for that game, and we went down to baby sit. The afternoon before he wanted me to help him with running, catching passes and getting the flag. We did and I could see that he was really coming along.

His football team hadn’t won a game all year. They all came alive that game and scored so many points, the game was called because of the lopsided score. He made great runs, stops and even passed for a couple of completions. His older sister commented that aliens must have kidnapped his team and him last night and replaced them with winners. She actually got excited several times and stopped sketching with her sketch pad.

This spring he is on an undefeated 7 year old baseball team. For some reason all of them but two hit the ball several times each game. When a team scores 5 runs in an inning, the inning is stopped to prevent a runaway. That has been a normal pattern with his team in every game. Only a couple on his team are good fielders and good base runners. They win with their hitting. His sister is now wishing that she was playing baseball.

His fishing skills have improved and are close to hers. He doesn’t have the patience she has, yet.

I had never watched a foot ball game in my life until last year. My 8 year old grand son was playing, I'm still no foot ball fan but I'm his fan.

I don't understand why they stop the games just because the score is lopsided?

I continue to worry about the tens of millions of very ill informed (regarding socialism, liberalism etc.), voting for either of Lenin's useful idiots.
Just how many people shall understand the connection between Ayers and Obama, assuming they even heard of the connection.
American of many colors and tastes simply don't think beyond their job, family, and the boob tube. But they will vote.
And whether one cares to admit it or not, GWB has alienated so many people across the political/social spectrum.
