Hard numbers: Illegal alien drunk drivers in North Carolina

WRAL reports on a new statistical breakdown of illegal alien drunk drivers in North Carolina. It’s a blood-pressure-raising look at the deadly revolving door, catch-and-release, the deportation abyss, and the danger of sanctuary policies embraced by those sworn to defend and protect the public:
Seven-year-old Marcus Lassiter won’t see his eighth birthday. George Smith was on his morning commute to Duke University but never made it to work. Betty Coates might struggle with daily tasks for the rest of her life.
Johnston County Sheriff Steve Bizzell sees a pattern among the cases of these victims of drunken driving: Each accused driver was in the United States illegally.
Bizzell pointed to Hipolito Hernandez, an illegal immigrant who faces second-degree murder charges in the hit-and-run that killed Marcus last Sunday.
“This case here is a prime example of the justice system letting the people down,” Bizzell said.
Nearly 300 illegal immigrants were convicted on driving-while-impaired charges and placed in North Carolina prisons in 2007.
Hispanics also account for 18 percent of drunken-driving arrests, while making up less than 7 percent of the state’s population, according to a study from the University of North Carolina Highway Safety Research Center aired in WRAL’s documentary “Focal Point: Crossing the Line.”
The study also showed that Hispanics involved in car crashes were 2.5 times more likely to be drunk than white drivers and three times more likely to be drunk than black drivers.
In the three cases listed above, each of the accused drunken drivers had extensive contact with the judicial system – but had managed to elude the immigration system until these incidents.

Latino advocacy groups often urge the public to step back from the emotion over immigration and focus on the individual crimes.
Advocates admit that drunk driving is a problem within the Hispanic community and have aired public-service ads to combat the problem.
Drunk driving is also the No. 1 killer of young Hispanic men, according to the UNC study.
Bizzell said the tragedy is that deaths such as Marcus’ and debilitating injuries such as Coates’ are preventable.
“This isn’t about race. This isn’t about Mexico versus the United States,” Bizzell said. “It’s about a drunk Mexican that’s illegal, driving drunk, no operator’s license, stolen vehicle, killing a little 7-year-old boy.”
Every drunk driver who kills someone should be shot, or given that drug cocktail that people say can let you be awake while your muscles stop.

I HOPE people are starting to fed up with this although my hopes aren't that high based on responses I get from people when I tell them about these stories.
The problem is they simply come back across the border.
If they commit a crime they should serve their time , then deport them.
Hopefully by then we have a fence up and preventing.

We need to start holding these judges, law enforcers, parole boards, psychiatrists, governments responsible, financially.
IOW, sue their a##. until they think twice about letting the criminals loose.
In a typical class of elementary students in Texas, if one asks the question how many of them have been in a car accident (safety unit stressing seat belt use), about 2 in 10 white children will raise their hands and 8 in 10 Latino children will raise theirs.
I don’t think Texas has the courage to report the ethnicity of drivers involved in auto fatalities, so kudos to NC. I think federal law should require that such information be published or highway funds withheld.

NC is a haven for illegals. Plenty of jobs, super welfare program...free med care, “emergency immediate funding”,, school lunches free, utility assistance, a well organized coyote program, the mexican lotto and it goes on and on. Plus no one in NC cares. ICE could have a field day here.
But then we're still going to have to be PAYING FOR THEM!!! What we need is not just prisons, but work camps. Either they work their asses off 16 hours a day, or they get 24 hr/day lockdown (we'll let them decide which one they want to go with). Either way, at this point, I just don't see either prison (as it stands now) or deportation (even with a fence) as being a viable option. Some kind of change has to be made. Personally, I'm starting to think that maybe the Muzzies have something with their 'cut off a hand' thing.
Perhaps I should add, too, that we need the harshest possible penalties for employers of illegals. Long stiff prison terms that they can serve alongside those that commit these heinous crimes. When they stop employing illegals, and our citizens are prevented from renting or selling property to illegals, most of the illegals will deport themselves. Enough is enough.
Take heart, a huge chunk of those anchor babies will be jailbirds.
Then let’s get Joe Arpaio (sheriff of Phoenix, I think) to handle the arrangements.

Liberals do not advocate the death penalty for those convicted of crime. But they have so many ways of imposing a death penalty on the innocent. By ignoring illegal immigrants FIRST crime which is setting foot on our still sovereign soil, they are just inviting a lot of other crimes that may as these have very deadly consequences for the most decent and innocent among us.
Step 2 - Fine (heavily) ANY landlord who rents to illegal aliens.
Step 3 - Cut off ALL U.S. aid (welfare, etc.) for illegal aliens including the female aliens who drop an anchor baby here.
Step 4 - Kill or maime a U.S. Citizen?? = execute illegal alien... no trial necessary since illegal aliens are not citizens.

Illegal aliens aren’t just more often drunk drivers, but they’re also often first time, inexperienced drivers. They’re learning to drive for the first time on our streets and highways.
A couple of years back I was almost broadsided pulling out of a service station. I live in an area which had no Hispanics until very recently. While pulling out of the service station, a young Hispanic man at the service aisles had just started his car and it lunged forward toward me, but he managed to stop it a few feet before he’d have hit me. He’d obviously put it in drive without having a foot on the brake, so the car jumped forward toward me until he hit the break.
I would not say that no one in NC cares, but it is true that the farmers depend upon migrant workers to harvest their crops. The real problem is that the NC state government is completely controlled by the Democrats and has been for all but twelve of the last 100 years. They, just as the national Democrats, are interested in votes, not legalities.

But laws by themselves do us no good IF THEY AREN’T ENFORCED!! Right now, only SOME of our Federal laws are being enforced. We have over 40 million illegals in the U.S. ICE is raiding and catching, what a few hundred a week? Itwill never get the job done, not with 5,000-10,000 illegals breaking into the U.S. every DAY!!

Problem IS...even if we did what you suggest (and I fully agree with your steps), the problem is ENFORCEMENT, not the strictness of the laws already on the books.

More Americans killed by illegal aliens than Iraq war, study says
When you start digging into the numbers the only ones that can be sourced with the feds are the number of American murdered in 2005: 16692
I have seen federal numbers for illegals held in jail ranging from 19.3% to 27% of the federal prison population.
Here's a sampling of USA cities wanted for murder. What you'll see is that in big USA cities like LA or NYC most of the murderers are Hispanic. Unknown are the % of illegals. In smaller cities the FBI will post the nationalities of the murderers. About 25% of the most wanted are illegals wanted for murder. This number agrees with the percentage of illegals incarcerated in federal prisons. +-25%Pictures of top 10 most wanted in LA. Up until recent stories about crime in LA posted by the LA Times--the pictures included the nationality of the murderers. They were all foreign nationals and mostly Mexican.

There are currently no exact numbers on the number of Americans killed by illegals. Part of the reason is that the government deliberately obscures the number. I talked on the phone with the head of statistics for the US Bureau of Prisons. He said his office wasn't allowed to publish the number of illegal alien murderers. Rather they were forced to put legal and non legal residents in the same category. I talked to ICE. They put out detailed numbers on illegal child molestors. However, they put out nothing on illegal murderers.
Part of the reason for the silence on the matter is that there is evidence to suggest that most Americans being killed by illegals are black--as is the suggestion in this LA Times Article. Also this article from the LA Times. And here. This makes intuitive sense. We see stories regularly of drug gang killings in Mexico but we don't see those same stories in the USA. The reason we don't see those stories is not because its not happening. Rather we don't see the stories about illegals killing blacks because that kind of story is terribly politically incorrect. The populations being displaced in downtown sanctuary cities especially are American blacks. That means that their criminal elements would be pushed aside by Mexican gangs as well. That's also the story that the wanted for murder posters in all the major cities seems to suggest.
Nevertheless, the pattern of non reporting is starting to break. Discovery Channel has a series called Gangland that mentions ethnic cleasing of blacks by Mexican gangs

All that said the true number of criminal aliens is far higher than is revealed by criminal aliens in prisons. Oh, there’s MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe!
Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over , and the County Supervisors said okay
The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who’d like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows.
The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost us $78.
The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.
I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand.
He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later W e have six trees in our yard from the Prison.
Yup, he was reelected last year with 83% of the vote.
Now he’s in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn’t doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He’s kind of a ‘Git-R Dun’ kind of Sheriff.
The federal government is a good place to start prosecuting... and long overdue, too.
