Our 'friends' in Kosovo

In 1999, the U.S., in collusion with its NATO allies, attacked the sovereign nation of Serbia, which posed no threat to America or Europe.

The excuse for the bombing campaign that killed thousands of innocent Serbs and destroyed civilian infrastructure was that Serbs were responsible for human rights abuses in its own province of Kosovo and that the government was responsible for backing a campaign of "genocide" against ethnic Albanians there.

It was all a lie, of course.

Serbia posed no threat to the United States whatsoever. Serbia had no weapons of mass destruction. Serbia did not support international terrorism. Serbia had no ill intentions toward the U.S.

It turns out that as few as 2,108 people were actually killed in Kosovo over a period of months leading up to and including the period of heavy bombardment of Serbia by NATO forces.

This is hardly "genocide," as it was billed by Clinton, Defense Secretary William Cohen, Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., former Sen. Bob Dole and David Scheffer, U.S. ambassador for war crimes.

By whipping up hysteria for an illegal bombing campaign, all of these men have blood on their hands.

It wasn't hundreds of thousands of dead in Kosovo, as some reports suggested. It wasn't even tens of thousands. It was, at worst, a couple thousand over a considerable period of time. That, of course, is still a dreadful and grisly toll. But, to put it in perspective, no global authority – not the United Nations, nor NATO – ever advocates intervention in the United States or anywhere else when the annual murder toll hits 2,000, which it does early in the first half of every year.

“Investigators for the Hague tribunal for war crimes in the Balkans found a house where living Serb prisoners had their internal organs removed and sold by the ethnic Albanians. The money raised in this grisly trade supported the Kosovo Liberation Army, a Muslim band of terrorists allied with al-Qaida.”

Don’t hold your breath waiting for the US or Europe to investigate this further. Such information will not be wanted, even if entirely true.

I would like to understand your perspective, on Kosovo, if you don’t mind. I am not hostile, to your feelings. I am not for our government recongnition of Kosovo. But I would like to understand why you feel it is your “Jerusalem”. As a Christian, shouldn’t Jerusalem be ‘your’ Jerusalem?

Why do you want to hang on to Kosovo? Serbia is also a new country, having broken off with Bosnia, so I would like to understand, from you, why you do not want to allow Kosovo to also become independent?

Sorry, meant to say, broken off with Montenegro. I know that Bosnia and Serbia broke off from Yugoslavia at the same time.

It might be of help to you to go to the following links regarding some of the questions you ask. For one, Serbia is not new, there was a Kingdom of Serbia as you will read in the following commentaries: The History of Yugoslavia and The History of Kosovo and Metohija

Perhaps someone can correct me, but I believe Metohija means the land of churches and monasteries.

Furthermore: Serbia became a kingdom (officially) in 1217. Its raise in prosperity and power was stopped by the Ottoman Turks in the Battle of Kosovo, 1389. It took the Turkey another 100 years to fully conquer the Serbian lands (and a large part of Europe). The Serbian people continued resistance and made a number of uprisings in the struggle for freedom.

The Turkish rule became particularly cruel, unbearable, at the end of 18th, beginning of 19th century. The Kingdom of Serbia was officially recognized at the Congress in Berlin, 1878. Kosovo was finally won back from Turkey in 1912.

The Kingdom of Serbia gave itself up to enter into a new state, The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians in 1918. The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians was renamed to Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1929. It became the Federal Peoples Republic of Yugoslavia, later renamed to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, after WWII.

AS though 500 years of persecution and oppression under the Ottoman yoke were not enough, it is the Western powers (unfortunately, mainly sought by this president) who have once again condemned the Serbs in Kosovo to live under their Islamic masters. While we are fighting Muslim terrorists all over the workd, we have handed Kosovo over to today's jihadist government thereby creating another terrorist state in the heart of Europe, Kosovo exporting over 80% of drugs going into Europe. Unfortunately, I have no rational answer as to why - especially when President Bush has said that the US will send more weapons to Kosovo.

I hope this helps somewhat.
