Doctors say it's amazing that a 41-year-old Tampa-area woman survived after someone shot her right between the eyes while she was riding in her boyfriend's pickup truck.
Doctors think she was hit with a .44-caliber bullet that broke in two pieces, each traveling under her skin and exiting behind her ears last weekend. She was released from the hospital hours later with just stitches.
The woman says two cars started following their truck Saturday night and the occupants began yelling at them.
At a traffic light, someone in one of the cars stood up in the sunroof and started shooting back at the truck.
Part of the bullet that hit the woman exited her head, went through the back window of the truck and hit a Jeep driving behind it.

Sounds like she had some Divine Intervention that saved her life.
Lets hope the same can’t be said about the thug who shot her when his time comes.

I noticed the “shooting back” sentence too. It never said that the woman or the driver of the pickup was shooting. Who was the shooter shooting back at, I wonder....

I doubt it was a 44, probably one of those pantywaist 40 cal’s.
I think they mean that a car ahead of them had an occupant stand up in the sunroof and said occupant “shot back” or backward at the truck she was in behind the shooter’s car.

I believe it was referring to the direction of the firing. Backwards instead of forwards.

Might also be ambiguous language. I read the shooting back as shooting at the vehicle behind the shooter, not returning fire.
I would have had her buy a lottery ticket on the way to the hospital!!
It sounds like she might have been trying to catch it with her teeth and the car hit a bump, (I hate when that happens) :)

I live in Tampa and its a great place. I know the area this took place and its not a bad area. I found an article in the local news and it has a lot more information. Looks like they knew and had a problem with her boyfriend.
Hmmm ....I have a thick headed sister in law that lives down there I will have to call and see if she’s ok.....:o)

As well folks need to know that a truck will wreak havoc on the ass end of a nissan rice burner. That POS shooting would have been sporting some really sore ribs and possibly a real bad headache as I drop my truck in 4X and park on top of that damn thing .

It says she didn’t know them. I thought the link I posted implied that her boyfriend may have. To me it sounds like one of those boyfriends that always ends up putting either the kids or her in the hospital.

Yep had a Girl Friend whos folks lived in Oldsmar ? A retirement community there.......great little place. also did some time and McDill AFB, Avon Park range , Eglin etc .....have family over in Melbourne.

No worries, I’m never out after midnight and if someone started tailing me in that manner I would not be stopping for lights. Worse comes to worse I am usually carrying and can certainly shoot better then the average thug.
I never, ever look for trouble, but I do recognize that it exists. I go to the liquor store when they open, hit the convenience store in the morning, and my kids have grown accustomed to me renting a DVD and ordering pizza for them and their friends, as opposed to going to the city at night.
Wanna get out kids? Let's go camping. We'll take the target stands and the carbines.
Limit exposure, extend peaceful existance. One can improve the odds in an urban area by timing and selection of activities. Fortunately, we live out of area enough that it isn't a big deal... yet. OTOH, it doesn't hurt to always be ready for the random carload of little shitheads when fate crosses your path.

I’d have a cummins dodge mega cab 4x4 and a Toyota Landcruiser FJ80 armored today if I could afford such. Minimum to level seven NATO 7.62 specs. And then avoid all trouble as you do as well ....... We really have taken on a cocooning lifestyle here as well. We have a pool, a home gym, party room with a “sports bar” etc and a old den we turned into a home theater with a great bose sound system and a 52” HD LCD TV. We garden and goof at home a whole lot more these days here at Ft Apache aka Casa’tastrophy !
If we are on the road myself and Girl Friday are carrying and have at least a carbine and shotgun in the vehicle. And I have already informed my insurance agent / lawyer / proctologist that I will run over an agressor before I shoot em if at all possible.
