Two Georgia gun dealers settle NYC lawsuit

Two Georgia gun dealers have agreed to monitoring in settling the federal lawsuit brought against them in 2006 by New York City. That leaves only Smyrna-based Adventure Outdoors in an unusual case set for trial next month.
The attorney for Adventure Outdoors said the shop will not settle with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who took the novel approach of suing 27 gun shops eight in Georgia because he said they were the sources of illegal guns recovered at crimes in that city.
"[Adventure Outdoors co-owner] Jay Wallace will go as far as to hock his car and his shop and all the guns in to see this case through," attorney John Renzulli in an interview Friday night. "This guy has complete moral conviction that he did not do anything wrong. ... He feels he has been wronged and he's going to show the jury [New York] City is wrong. They sued the wrong guy."
Bloomberg's office announced late Friday it had resolved the lawsuit against five more gun dealers described as "rogue" businesses when the two federal lawsuits were brought in 2006. Twenty of the 27 shops sued have settled.
Adventure Outdoors is the lone defendant remaining in the first suit. A shop in Virginia and one in South Carolina will be federal court in September when the second case is scheduled for trial.
Of the remaining shops originally named in the two suits, one in South Carolina defaulted after its owner was indicted on charges of making illegal gun sales, Gwinnett Pawn Shop in Norcross went out of business and the complaints against the two dealers in Virginia were dismissed.

Anybody know how to ping the banglist?
I cannot believe that these 20 some merchants folded so readily; especially in light of the outrageous political overreach by the arrogant Bloomberg and his minions.
I trust the ACLU will be representing the merchants on this one [/sarc off]
just add the key word (already there, BTW)
Shame on New York!
This is one of the most evil lawsuits I've ever heard about!
I just wrote a check for $50 dollars to support Adventure Outdoors.
This SOB and his subjects deserve each other.
These self appointed One Worlders (Bloomberg) know no bounds!
I don’t think 1000 gun shops could put enough money together to beat Bloomberg. The A-hole has $6 billion to wire through a Caribbean account. That could keep people going for a very long time.
Granted he’s got the funds...but, this is just so outlandish and offensive on its face that, surely, some people or some organization would want to take on this Philistine.
The sheer jurisdictional arrogance of this approach is appalling.
For the others shop owners to kowtow to NYC-istan’s oversight on future commerce is ridiculous nearly beyond belief.

Looks like I found my gunshop once I get my official GA residency. I have quite a few guns that I am eyeballing and I can’t think of a better way to buy them than to help out a store that is fighting Bloomy. If it was my shop, I would also tell GA that I can’t collect any taxes for them due to NYC having “jurisdiction” over a business in GA and then watch the state get involved in the case.
I’ll be buying some ammo from him soon. BTW, that’s a really good idea about the sales tax.
