If you’ve ever wondered what the Marines have in mind when they advertise for “a few good men,” look no further than Gunnery Sgt. William “Spanky” Gibson.

Two years ago, he lost a leg to a sniper’s bullet in Iraq. Today, he’s back in the combat zone — by his own choice.

Great! I've always wondered why some of these true 'Heros' who are completely capable are drummed out of the Service. I'm certain that many, many 'Disabled' Soldiers are very well equipped to continue to give and offer excellent service. Unfortunately, too many are not allowed to continue in thwir servie.

Within two months of being wounded, Gibson, who makes his home in Pryor, Okla., with his wife and young daughter, was back at work at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

I knew it, he's an Okie!!

This guy’s amazing.
A true hero in the classic definition.

But, he’s not the first and he certainly won’t be the last.

The sheer number of wounded soldiers and marines returning to duty is astounding.

We’re lucky to have them all.

There was a paratrooper that suffered a broken back and crushed pelvis. The military was going to med-board him out. He fought the military for a year and WON!

They told him he could no longer jump and he told them, "No, but I damn sure can pilot the planes for those that can!" He left Walter Reed to be trained to fly and was given what he wanted...to go back to Iraq.

There was a Scout and a Marine who did not want out, but their injuries were such that they would have been assigned desk jobs. They both decided they could not tolerate that, so they were med-boarded out.

We have amazing men and women serving our country!
The morons in CONgress should show them the respect they deserve.
