BANQUETE-Authorities near Banquete searched for illegal immigrants who jumped out a truck following a high speed chase Wednesday evening. Officers rounded up more than two dozen illegals in two separate locations.
Some of the immigrants come from as far away as the middle east. Fifteen of them were caught in the Mathis area and nine more were later captured just south of Banquete.
San Patricio County Sheriff, Leroy Moody, told KRIS 6 News that he believes there are more out here hiding out in a thick brushy line of trees, and if it were not for strong winds, a DPS helicopter would probably be shining a light down to spot the ones authorities could not find earlier.
Sheriff Moody followed the chase that reached 105 miles per hour at one point. Of the nine illegals authorities were able to capture, two said they were from Pakistan, one was from El Salvador, and one was from Bolivia.
They told KRIS they had been traveling in a truck for one day after swimming across the Rio Grande river. Some said they were heading to Houston and others were trying to eventually make it all the way to Los Angeles.
They told KRIS there were about twenty in their group packed into a quad cab truck. The Sheriff said it was stolen. The back cover on the bed was pushed open and the back window was smashed out so the illegals could make a run for it.
DPS Trooper, Cody Lankford, who started the chase near Mathis, said he was trying to make a routine traffic stop.
Border Patrol agents picked up the nine caught and a couple of Nueces County deputies will be stayed in the area Wednesday night looking for others to come out of hiding.

Some of the immigrants come from as far away as the middle east. How many thousands do they miss? How many are getting through? How many are bribing corrupt Mexican officials to just look the other way or aid and abet them?
This is national security? We're at war?
How embarrassing can this possibly get?

Our borders are being compromised every minute of the day, during war time, as the media, helicopters and tens of thousands of people gawk at freaks running though our streets with a plastic toy torch, supporting Communist China, as they fight off other freaks attempting to attack and break the toy. It appears the toy was saved due to massive security measures, costing tax payers millions of dollars.

Cert-off is doing such a good job protecting the border I'm sure there is some sort of reporting error here. Way to go Jorge, your approval rating should be -10.

Any Middle Eastern illegal found here should be sent straight to Gitmo as an assumed terrorist.

According to some on FR these Middle Easterners are not Muslim but Christians fleeing Iraq or Lebanon. Of course they never give any proof to their being Christian just guesses. One of these days we are really going to get hurt, worse than 9/11.

Well, if Congress gets it’s way long with McCain, these Middle East folks would be naturalized right along with those here legally.

I’ve never found one, but I know several people who’ve found Muzlem Prayer Rugs along the border, I don’t think those who left them were Christians.

Insightful comment on Michelle Malkin’s Absolut thread re: globalism replacing nationalism and patriotism, resulting in a near elimination of the concept of a need for borders.
As Ronald Reagan intimated, it will only take 2 generations for us to lose our Liberty.

My English teacher said to be specific when describing something, or someone. They call themselves officials, and they are corrupt, so I call them corrupt Mexican officials. Which do you prefer, just corrupt Mexicans, or just Mexican officials? I would assume they are not all corrupt, but ya never know.
