That's some DEEP science you're studying there.

Just how does one decipher that info?

I believe NASA has already stated that Solar cycle 24 has started, based on the sighting of a small sunspot with the telltale reversed polarity of the previous cycle, I think they are a bit premature. It seems like wishful thinking on their part.

It's snowing right now in Pocatello, ID. The forecast calls for up to 1/2 an inch during daylight hours and about that much more during the evening. I had to brush a inch of snow off my truck on Monday morning before taking my son to work.

I’ve seen a few statements that suggest that event was part of cycle 23. Apparently there can be some overlap between cycles but you are right they did indicate a polarity change. I have to wonder who’s radar this potentially significant phenomenon is showing (NASA, NSA, FDA, DOD?).

4 days of snow predicted for my area starting Friday.

We should be thinking about what to plant in the garden by now. This reminds me of those years in the ‘70’s when we usually had snow until mid April. Looks like those 30 year Solar cycles really do exist after all.

I keep checking on the solar cycle 24 website. It is maintained by a ham who enjoys operating in modes that are dependent on solar activity. It has been just dead for a long time. The currently visible solar disk is clear of any spots. The probability of a pending ice age certainly looks possible. Too bad to hype driven pseudo science political process is focused on phony claims of "global warming". We should be figuring out how to survive with sufficient energy and food resources from an ice age.

Does this mean we are all going to freeze to death? Will we end up cannibals just like we were going to if we were burning up? Is the sky still falling?

My daffodils are still mostly underground. Normally, I have a huge patch of flowers by this point in April. I did see a few emerging from my neighbor's yard, but those beds have a southern exposure. They are much warmer than most in the area.

I'm planning to go to Yellowstone National Park next Friday for opening day. There's still lots of snow up there right now. Last week I attempted to go to Craters of the Moon. It was a no go. Only ski and snow shoe traffic on the roads. My favorite cave entrances are under 40 ft of snow. That trip will have to wait until June or July.

Snowing at the moment in Sandpoint, too. Just took the snowy-tahrs off last Sunday. Great move.

I keep all season tires on the F150 4x4 and Mariner Hybrid 4x4. It's easier that way. My son is driving my 1994 Saturn SL2. It has been stored in my garage since April 2002, so it was good to get it back on the road. The front wheel drive works pretty well in the snow. That said, the car ceases to do the job once the snow gets over 12". The 4x4 vehicles are just fine.

Algore is doing everything he can to get the regulatory apparatus in place. If the legislatures can do anything about the climate through legislation we're in good shape. It's going to be 72 and sunny all the time and light rain in the evening for two hours everywhere forever.

Grand Targhee in Idaho (my brother lives in Driggs, ID) has had over 550 inches of snow this year - with a good three weeks left in the snow season. However, they are closing next week regardless.

The Kyoto Protocol is working! Global Warming has been brought under control but it will require constant legislative adjustment and funding from now on.

My mistake was getting them studded. That’s better for local conditions (lots of melt refreeze at night this time of year) but not if you have to leave the area. The Washington State eco-nazis have been running an ad campaign stating how it’s a $124 ticket for running studs after 5 April and I had to drive to Redmond over the weekend to get a brain transplant from the Evil Empire. Snowed like a bandit at Snoqualmie pass. My little Subbie did just fine (they’re great bad weather cars) but it was an unnecessary risk. IMHO.

But I can always pour a bottle of cold water on my head. I don’t think I would ever pour hot water on my head when it’s freezing outside!

Have the people in town (Driggs) adjusted to finally having an authentic stoplight in town? I pass through Driggs on the way back from Jackson, WY when the weather is satisfactory for taking the pass instead of the long route via SR26.

The local tire shops actually spend money on radio ads for removal of studded snow tires. They know the local regulations that set a date for removal are big bucks in their pockets. Sorry you had to drive so far to get your work done. My last trip to Redmond was in 1996. My company was doing some marketing work with Starwave and making a visit to the Microsoft offices to get details on their e-commerce offerings.
