We held down the fort on Saturday while PatrioticMarineMom and hubby were away for the weekend. Mr. T helped us out and brought along Kristinn, another fine, dedicated DC Chapter FReeper. It was pretty quiet at first, but things started to pick up. A girl driving by said her husband was in the Army. I said God bless him and thank him. There were a couple of drivers that saluted us. A Vietnam Vet held his hat out the window and we thanked him. A younger Military guy held his hat out the window as we thanked him also. These are the special moments that reinforce our reasons for doing what we do every Saturday. With all that our troops and their families have sacrificed, its nice to know that they appreciate our support and to see the smiles on their faces.
Mr. T is very friendly and talkative and makes sure to tell people walking by about our Rallies/FReeps every Saturday. Thanks for the plugs Mr. T! I also think Mr. Ts nice Marine jacket and USMC flag attracts a lot of positive feedback. People usually walk down the street so they passed Mr. T and Kristinn first. My hubby, hero and I stood a little further down the street. A female Patriot Guard Rider talked to Mr. T. There was a couple talking to Mr. T for quite awhile. They came down to us, chatted for a bit and thanked us. They crossed to the other side and were talking to the moonbats. Dont know what the conversation was but hopefully they werent swayed by their signs and whatever the moonbats had to say. There were a couple of people that we believed to be chewing out the moonbats. One man had mentioned a relative and the Battle of the Bulge and walked away a bit angry.

An ambulance driver waved to us amidst his ambulance lights and sirens flashing and sounding. A fire truck drove by and gave us a big honk. It was nice to hear a young teen out of a car shout Semper Fi USA! There are some smart young ones out there! PatrioticMarineMom - a fan of yours wondered where you were as they shouted out your name from their car. I exclaimed loudly that you would be back next Saturday!

The first moonbat arrived a little before 2pm. His sign, which looks like a little kid made it, says: War is not the answer. Mr. T shouted over to him that if war is not the answer, what is? Of course he didnt have an answer but just went on to mention all of the people that have died. Typical moonbat response. Just like the sign with 4,005 on it that another moonbat was holding. They just have to unnecessarily focus on the number of deaths. We understand that freedom is not free and unfortunately, people die in war. We choose to honor the fallen and focus on the positive progress of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Supporting our troops is our number one priority. We will not let what happened to the Vietnam Vets happen to these troops. Maybe if the moonbats would check out some non-biased news, they would realize how much progress has been made in Iraq, but that would contradict their agenda.
BELOW: 1st moonbat with "War is not the answer" sign - Surrender is?
2nd the moonbat who imagines peace - Our troops don't just imagine peace, they are the true peacemakers.
BELOW LEFT: More moonbat signs: Peace is patriotic - That's OK, we'll stick with our USA Flags and supportive signs for our troops!
BELOW RIGHT: Bring Our Troops Home - End The War Now - After VICTORY!

We outnumbered the moonbats 5 to 2 for 1 ½ hours. Around 2:25pm, 3 other moonbats showed up to even up the numbers. Quality trumps quantity and also the fact that we are there every Saturday from 1-3pm. Some of these moonbats can barely handle half an hour and then right on the dot, as soon as that bell tolls; they are done for the day. Obviously, were much more dedicated and committed to our cause. After all, they believe that we should use words and not bombs. That is what one of their signs said. HMMMM, using words for dictators and terrorists? Have we not tried that before? Bombs seem to have been much more effective against evil than words. Using words, singing Kumbaya and making love not war will surely solve all the worlds problems! (sarcasm)
Not a surprise, we receive the majority of beeps and support while they get a few beeps and some people giving peace signs. Not so for one Vietnam Vet riding by on his motorcycle. He casually flipped them the bird. There was a guy driving by us that thanked us and waved to us. He then pointed to the other side and motioned that he did not agree with them. One older lady approached me and said it was a shame that people were dying for nothing. I told her she was entitled to her opinion and that we chose to support our troops. She then said the troops should come home and I told her I believed that was true after they are victorious. It would be defeating their mission for them to just bail out now. We agreed to disagree.
With about 5-10 minutes to go, something encouraging happened. An older lady asked if she could stand with us. I said sure, it would be a pleasure. I told her we didnt have any signs but she didnt mind. She was a citizen of Carroll County and then informed me that her husband was a Marine and is a pastor of a local church. Wow, not every day do you have a pastors wife offer to stand with you to show support for our troops! I told her we stand in Westminster every Saturday from 1-3pm. She said that she might bring some friends to join us. Hopefully, she will come out to join us.
Feel free to join us any Saturday from 1-3pm. We especially need extra boots on the corner, on the 2nd and last Saturday of each month, when we counter protest the moonbats. The Westminster Gathering/FReep is located on the east side of E. Main Street opposite the library at 50 East Main Street. There is public parking on Winters Street. Follow the signs.
Wow!! Thank you for the wonderfully detailed report. And, thank you for standing there each week. God bless our troops!! God bless you, too.
D.C. Chapter Master Ping List.
Westminster could use some extra patriots every once and a while.
Our groups are about 30 feet apart and it is getting to be like old Walter Reed with the verbal engagement of the moonbats, especially since the police have stopped being like Big Brother. Also, the 10 foot separation rule is not being enforced.

I agree! Us Westminster FReepers have something to look forward too! What a beautiful spring day for a FReep today, even if it was just PatrioticMarineMom and myself.
