The reaction to Sen. Barack Obama's March 18 speech in Philadelphia on his firebrand pastor and race in America shows a generation gap within the black community...
Despite criticism that he didn't fully address the angry comments by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Mr. Obama's youth and powerful skills as an orator continue to offer hope to many that he can bridge what he defined in his speech as a national "stalemate" ...
Charles Ellison... describes a tension among blacks and a "growing generation gap between new school versus old school."
"The new hip-hop generation, there is a focus on economic, political and social empowerment.
The polling data... exposed key racial gaps. While 58 percent of white voters said they were personally offended by Mr. Wright's sermons, just 29 percent of black voters said they were upset by his remarks.
Mr. Innis thinks the Wright controversy has damaged Mr. Obama, but not fatally. He argues that the candidate did not deal with Mr. Wright's remarks head on, noting that younger blacks trapped in the inner cities continue the "paranoia" of the older generation on race directly because of "the Jeremiah Wrights of this world, the Farrakhans." The latter is a reference to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
"The groups who should be afraid of the Jeremiah Wrights are blacks," Mr. Innis said. "The danger and harm that that type of paranoia and paralysis that it causes in our communities is a clear and present danger to African-Americans and our progress. The world will pass us by in a new America that our ancestors helped create."
"A dialogue on race is not a monologue. It is not about Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton getting up on a pulpit and beating up on white people.

What white liberals didnt do to them, the black race hustlers did..
There was a time that I would actually had hope that we would end this insane practice of hypenating-Americans.
Of course there was a time that I was young and full of ideals.
Tee time at the Golf Course is about that only thing that gets me excited any longer.

Wait a minute. How about, "What they didn't let..." at the beginning of your sentence.
Hatred only grows where it's welcome.
Here’s how I see it.
This incident has turned over a log that’s been lying in the forest for years.
Many people are seeing what’s under the log, for the first time. And they’re horrified.
What’s sad is the defenders.
Let's face the fact that we have an extensive network of Black Churches preaching this hate and reinforcing low self-esteem that is organized. These are literally US Madrassas.
The mindset that one is “owed” something in life has not only affected black mobility in business but black mobility in education as well.
The irony of it all however is that the “white establishment” managed to get them into the college and pay their entire tuition. Instead of being encouraged to study international affairs, classical or modern languages, philosophy or art, most of these students became ethnic studies or sociology majors because it allowed them to remain in disciplines whose orientation justified their existence at the university. In short, it became a vicious cycle.
Eric Hoffer said:
“...you do not win the weak by sharing your wealth with them; it will but infect them with greed and resentment. You can win the weak only by sharing your pride, hope or hatred with them.”
We now know that Barack Obama really has no interest in the “audacity of hope.” With his race speech, Obama became a peddler of angst, resentment and despair. Too bad he doesn’t direct that angst at the liberal establishment that has sold black people a bill of goods since the 1960s.

Exactly : Think the minister’s new $$ home.
What white liberals didnt do to them, the black race hustlers did..
This has shown once again that in general blacks hate whites. All of the pundits supporting Osama or Wright say blacks have a right to be angry, or it’s different in black churches. Osama had the gall to blame US for Wright.
I doubt that many of us are surprised by this 29% statistic. Until the likes of Jerry, Jesse, Al, et al quit preaching the "victim mentality" and switch to the positive messages offered by the likes of Bill Cosby, blacks will continue to sit and feel sorry for themselves rather than stand up and do positive things to improve their (and their childrens') lot.
As Cosby and others have pointed out, a significant portion of black problems are self-inflicted and cultural. As such, they need to solve those problems for themselves and the likes of Mr. Wright aren't helping since they wish to deflect the real cause from themselves to "whitey". Well, I'm tired of throwing my tax dollars into Jesse, Al, and Jerry's pockets. It's time for the leaders of the black community to step up to the plate and start solving their problems, rather than spewing poisonous talk that solves nothing other than serve their own personal agenda.
Let me guess, some love him, some REALLY love him, right?
Try Viagra?
There is something I don’t get here. In American schools the kids get “diversity” training. But Obama brings his kids to a church to hear Rev. Wright.
Maybe in addition to worrying about madrassas that teach hate, we should be thinking about these churches.
Hatred wearing a mask can appear as love..
Love in black face is not love at all..
Could be many blacks are asking themselves, Where has my mind been..
If so then Obama has burst a BOIL on the black butt..
“The reaction to Sen. Barack Obama’s March 18 speech in Philadelphia on his firebrand pastor and race in America shows a generation gap within the black community..”
There’s one small problem with this article. The polling data is not broken down by age, so the poll doesn’t show anything resembling a generation gap. It would have been better to say:
“The reaction to Sen. Barack Obama’s March 18 speech in Philadelphia on his firebrand pastor and race in America gives the talking heads a prime opportunity to ruminate on the existence of a generation gap within the black community”.
nail on the head
cosby was right and many blacks didn’t like it some calling him a tom, a lsave to the white man etc
It’s about time that affirmative action and the victim card were pisssed off.
MLK said that we were all created equal and yet affirmative action gives minorities more rights than others.
Obama(racist), cosby, oprah, NY gov, MA gov, powell, condi, etc etc etc have proved that if you put your head down then you can have what others want and infact affirmative action has now proved to be obsolete.
Totally fed up of the blacks saying about slavery etc that was a long time ago and even a black guy once said that if they had never had slavery he would have been born over in Afrcia and have not what he has now.
of course when slavery is mentioned they forget to mention about it was the black man who sold blacks to whites and that one of the first slave owners in this country was a black man
Hey, it pays well. A 1.6 million dollar mansion to trtire in, with the balance of a 10 million dollar line of credit to get by on.
