Interestingly, Marines don’t “hug walls” anymore (at least around masonry buildings) because that increases the chance of being hit by a riccochet.

You’re right. I don’t see a PID on that list.

Makes sense—especially in Iraq.

“I hope my fellow Marines sue the hell out of Time Magazine!”

Tim McGurk specifically.

Bump.

How do we get an EARMARK to reimburse these Marines and their Families for the egregious costs they have been forced to bear by an out-of-control propaganda-fueled prosecution pursued by an over-reaching home-grown insurgent gang in our government?

Defense lawyer Neal Puckett, who represents Staff Sgt. Wuterich, said that the government’s continued insistence on prosecuting his client “speaks to the government’s desperation” in pursuing the languishing case.

The government persists in this wrongful prosecution and investigation to save face with people who want to believe there is something to find out. Previous aquittals and charges dismissed serve to strengthen the arguement that there is no case here.

“When a junior enlisted Marine finds himself in a firefight and knows his actions are going to be interpreted somewhere else in an air conditioned office six months later it could get him killed,” Zimmermann said.

Zimmermann's statement applies to all enlisted ranks of Marines and soldiers of all branches. Training - Training - Training - Training is paramount in the life & death decisions made in combat.

Unfortunately, many of the top brass have never seen combat aside from a sheltered visit to the front-lines... many of them only see the war on paper in written reports.

There's a lot of good info and references in this thread. Thanks to everyone!

BUMP! for LCpl Stephen Tatum!

Three Marines remain for the charges to be dropped for a complete exoneration. Murtha and Time can go straight to hell.

Damn good question.

My Congressman is the only "Iraqi veteran" serving in Congress and his name is Patrick Murphy. Of course, he's a scumbag Democrat who was barely elected (thanks only to the sliver of his district that's in Philadelphia), AND he was a military lawyer so I am positive he would have no interest in doing anything to aid heroic fighting men.

Probably the people to get the ball rolling on earmarks would be the home district Congressmen of each of the Haditha Marines. Getting the local newspapers involved would be a good way to start that fire.

There has got to be somebody else at work here or some other thing that pushed this along.

Agree...I have never read a thing to suggest Gen Mattis is anything but an outstanding Marine, by anyone.

There was no equal public outrage or publicity over the Evan Vela case.

lies and obnoxious treachery and bullsquat - ASSURED the public would NOT be aware of and watch Evan's case with a magnifying glass

If you knew what we know, well, look at your mail. And as Redrover posted on another thread "words do not suffice".

If anyone wants to get in on this lets head for another thread:

Well, I've got Sestak, a fired vice admiral that was forced out and then foisted on us by the clinton dirty-tricks team. He's an Iraqi veteran, just never been in theatre, like a lot of the VVAW and IVAW scumbags.

Interesting sign and you’re right about it not mentioning civilians. Those ten rules were learned the hard way by clearing an untold number of structures.

Maybe Gen. Helland watched the Frontline documentary, "Haditha, Rules of Engagement", and bought himself a clue.

Maybe he was reading your posts.

Hey, Jack Murtha is the King of EARMARKS. Maybe he should get that ball rolling....oh, wait...wasn't he the one that called them "Cold-blooded murderers"? Never mind.

Maybe Darryl and Justin can use some of the excess legal funds /sarc to set up a shadow Con-current Technologies office across from murtha’s office and lobby for funds that could be used for reimbursement.//sarc

BLITZER: The marines say they're still investigating. They don't know what happened yet. The pentagon says the same thing. How do you know what happened?
MURTHA: Wolf, you read the "Time" magazine articles. There are pictures, there are photos. You don't have to talk to the military about the proof. (Murtha, on CNN/Wolf Blitzer, May 19, 2006... transcript)

Gen. Mattis, at the top of the best of the best list needs no defense from me, but to set the record straight, let me quote from a story I wrote on NewsMax that might just explain where Gen. Mattis was coming from: “The accused were among eight originally charged, four of whom were exonerated by then Lt. Gen. James Mattis, among them Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt who Mattis praised as an outstanding young man with an admirable record. As a result it was suggested by the media that Mattis, one of the Marine Corps’ legendary officers, was participating in a cover-up.

In an open letter to Gen. Mattis back on Sept. 6, 2006 (http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/9/5/170254.shtml), I warned him that is exactly would happen — that “clearing the Marines involved will create a firestorm of criticism from the media, which long ago found the Kilo Company Marines guilty of committing a deliberate ‘massacre’ of 24 ‘innocent’ civilians and have no intention of admitting they were wrong.”

“Having learned the hard way, Mattis apparently recognized that the only way to quiet charges of cover-up would be to allow the process to continue and allow a jury to make the final determination as to the guilt or innocence of the remaining four defendants.

“Unless I’m mistaken, whatever the outcomes of the four trials, the media will not be satisfied. They long ago declared the Haditha Marines guilty of participating in a massacre akin to the Mai Lai killings of hundreds of Vietnamese in the Vietnam conflict.”

That has got to be the stupidest most ill informed statement ever made by a US Congressman, bar none!
