It's still speech, and this is not some third-world hellhole or a failed state where they kill people for violation of speech codes.

They should inflict capital punishment on people who actually attempt to restrict free speech.

This went far beyond "thought". The jerk was acting as a self-appointed "I Vant to See Your Papers" Police.

The bottom line is that these men were U.S. citizens and no self-apponited vigilante with a "Rhode Islanders for Whatever Law Enforcement" membership card has a right to demand that you present I.D. to him.

Are you going to allow some bozo to make a "citizen's arrest" on you because you refuse to show him your Social Security card when he demands that you do so?

I don't think so.
