Warmongers Anonymous A 12 Step Program for Supporters of the Iraq War (kitty litter)

Today marks the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. The Bush Administration, its neoconservative allies, its congressional supporters, and the acquiescent mainstream media need to take this week as an opportunity for critical self-examination. It is time for them to face the fact that they have a problem, an addiction to this war. Here are just a few of the signs and examples:
Defensiveness, temper tantrums, resentful behavior i.e. the labeling of those who oppose the war as defeatists, unpatriotic, blame America first types, or saying that they dont support the troops Unexplained moodiness or irritability i.e. Dick Cheney Violent temper or bizarre behavior i.e. John McCain, John Bolton, or most all neoconservatives
Excessive need for privacy; secretive or suspicious behavior i.e. the perversion of the States Secrets Act, the misuse of Executive Privilege, or the secrecy surrounding Dick Cheneys 2001 Energy Task Force Paranoia or suspicious behavior i.e. the neoconservative contention that the intelligence community purposely misled the county about the threat Iraq posed to embarrass the Bush administration...

The author of this is the perfect sign of a Bircher-Libertarian- narcissism fed off overinflated vision of moral superiority. I believe Ayn Rand put it perfectly when she stated Libertarians (capital L- Bircher Party versus Objectivist libertarian (lowercase l)) were all theory with no teeth. To quote Mrs Rand:
Above all, do not join the wrong ideological groups or movements, in order to 'do something.' By 'ideological' (in this context), I mean groups or movements proclaiming some vaguely generalized, undefined (and, usually, contradictory) political goals. (E.g., the Conservative Party, which subordinates reason to faith, and substitutes theocracy for capitalism; or the 'libertarian' hippies, who subordinate reason to whims, and substitute anarchism for capitalism.) To join such groups means to reverse the philosophical hierarchy and to sell out fundamental principles for the sake of some superficial political action which is bound to fail. It means that you help the defeat of your ideas and (hand) the victory to your enemies.
For the record, I shall repeat what I have said many times before: I do not join or endorse any political group or movement. More specifically, I disapprove of, disagree with and have no connection with, the latest aberration of some conservatives, the so-called 'hippies of the right,' who attempt to snare the younger or more careless ones of my readers by claiming simultaneously to be followers of my philosophy and advocates of anarchism. Anyone offering such a combination confesses his inability to understand either. Anarchism is the most irrational, anti-intellectual notion ever spun by the concrete-bound, context-dropping, whim-worshiping fringe of the collectivist movement, where it properly belongs. I do enjoy when you pimp this blog, it gives everyone a chance to laugh at the arm chair politicians.

How are the Birchers and the Libertarians or libertarians related in any way?
Birchers seem closer to the Constitution Party which is a religiously-based conservative party.
I realize that some people believe that the Iraq War is such an important issue that all other issues pale in comparison.
But that does not lead logically to the conclusion that all people on the same side of the Iraq War issue can be lumped together.
Libertarians oppose the war for one set of reasons, paleocons for another set of reasons. Because they have different reasons, they come to different conclusions on different issues such as border enforcement.
This site is being clogged with sloppy thinking and reasoning.

From the article:
the labeling of those who oppose the war as defeatists, unpatriotic, blame America first typesI've yet to meet the anti-war zealot that doesn't fit that description. They seem to be all anti-military, anti-free enterprise, anti-American, very defeatist, try to hide their lack of patriotism, and do tend to blame America a whole lot.
Sorry about that, they're a weird lot, and articles denying such are deserving of the Viking Kitty treatment.

You misunderstand. The political spectrum is not a straight line, but a ring. You move far enough to the left or right, and you end up meeting up with the other side. Right wing extremists and left wing extremists agree on the war for similar reasons and employ similar rhetoric.

Libertarians are not leftwing extremists.
They claim that the political spectrum is more complex than just a straight line. They believe in a two-dimensional model where the conservatives are up against one axis supporting lots of economic freedom and little social freedom, while the liberals are hugging the other axis with little love for economic freedom, but lots of support for social freedoms.
So I suppose you can just claim they are idiots or delusional, but I believe that neither your circular model nor the libertarians two-dimensional model is adequate to capture the complexity of political belief.
Besides, the circular model you seem to love was actually cooked up by liberal educators in the 50's mostly as a way to make people fear conservative extremists, who by their definition would include anyone who felt comfortable with any statement made on FreeRepublic.
To: Mr. Silverback
I take it by your tag line that you are not particularly happy with GWB being president right now?
