Vanity: "Newsweek's" Eleanor Clift Wrong About Terri Schiavo
March 17, 2008 | John Lofton, Recovering Republican

Posted on 03/17/2008 7:24:50 PM PDT by NotChosenName

In a recent interview in the Sunday "NYTimes" magazine, Eleanor Clift, says, re: Terri Schiavo, that her parents and supporters "did not want to accept that she could not be rehabilitated. They found enough people to fool them into thinking she could." This, of course, is completely wrong! Forget "rehabilitation." What Terri's parents and her supporters tried to stop was the MURDER of Terri Schiavo. Alas, they failed -- with no help from people like Eleanor Clift.

Notably, even Ms. Clift’s fellow travelers on the extreme Left like Ralph Nader, Tom Harkin and Jesse Jackson came out against this judicial murder by cruel and unusual means.

That is correct. They made hocus pocus videos trying to convince others. Only the wishful thinkers saw her eyes follow the balloon. Everybody else saw the truth, the balloon following her eyes.

Given the circumstances the husband should have been removed from any decisions. He had a clear conflict of interest.

What law are you talking about? If you could link to it at the Florida State website that would be helpful. Or at least provide some identifying info so we could look it up ourselves.

Anyone who’s been around a while knows not to take this clown seriously.

Those of you who don’t already know, I recommend you examine all the source material you can get your hands on.

The videos show Terri interacting with the people around her, and other elements of her environment (including that balloon that so upsets the euthanasists.)

But don’t take my word for it, even though I have a proven record for honesty. And don’t take the word of a euthanasist who has a proven record for dishonesty. Look for yourself.

Why must we go through this AGAIN?!

We have been through this innumerable times, the laws and Constitution of Florida as well as the Constitution of the United States already had more than adequate protections for Terri. They were either ignored or openly violated.

If YOUR husband left you for another woman and had children with her and made it perfectly clear that rather than divorce you, he wanted you to DIE, would YOU want that person making ANY decisions for you? (This is a YES or NO question, I am not interested in any “nuances” you may want to bring up.)

If you just want to know specifically what we do, I invite you to review past Terri Dailies and the answers are there. They are there in quantity. That is why I ask what is behind your question so we can aid you to become enlightened on the topic.

I still don’t know which law you’re talking about. Wagglebee put a link in post 22 that might be helpful to you. From there, you can do a search and find the law you’re talking about.

Once I know which law you’re talking about, then I’ll be happy to discuss it with you. But until you tell me what you’re talking about, it’s pointless for you to keep demanding that I tell you about it.

There is one law which supersedes ANY Florida statute and that is the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America.

The Fifth Amendment MANDATES that a person can ONLY be deprived of life with a grand jury indictment, NO JUDGE has the power to circumvent this law. People can argue that Terri had due process all they want, but in the absence of a grand jury indictment it was unconstitutional to take her life.

So, are you working to change the law so it won’t happened again?

Let me repeat the question I asked in post #25:
If YOUR husband left you for another woman and had children with her and made it perfectly clear that rather than divorce you, he wanted you to DIE, would YOU want that person making ANY decisions for you? (This is a YES or NO question, I am not interested in any “nuances” you may want to bring up.)

The answer to this IS NOT a question.

I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt; however, I am rapidly becoming convinced that you either:
A. Have a pro-death agenda you are trying to push.
or
B. Have been unable to express what law it is that you think should be changed.

As 8mmMauser pointed out, we have a treasure trove of information in the Terri Dailies threads that we have pieced together over the past three years. Perhaps you might start reading through them in hopes of finding out what you need to know.

I assumed that you thought it was wrong and would do something to stop it from happening again. Never assume.

As I have ALREADY explained, there already are laws, they were ignored.

I notice that you have an aversion to answering VERY SIMPLE questions. Then you accuse pro-life FReepers of being "mad" because you won't state a position. I have NEVER known a pro-life person who was reluctant to admit it, but I have known plenty of pro-death trolls who are. Are you one of these deathbots who prefers to ask the same question again and again rather than address the issues? It is obvious that the FACTS don't interest you.

Silly question. No husband has the right to kill his wife under the Constitution. Especially when they just won a court award to rehabilitate her.

The Word. Verbum.

I realize your point and take it in light hearted vein, but please realize, of late we withstood withering or withered attacks by sundry trolls over the last years, and their activity intensifies on occasions like this Holy Week anniversary of the atrocity towards Terri. Some have already picked up the scent on this thread.

Case in point, a long time member of FreeRepublic who has harassed us for ages finally staged an all-out albeit unimpressive assault on our senses. The same Terri Listers you are engaging here bore up under his disruption efforts and we prevailed. We spot them buzzing around Terri-related threads often these days and if a visitor sounds like an ally, well you see the reaction. You may know the zotted one in this case as he has been around for a decade as well.

It could be a lesson to others who would sniff along his trail. Write your opus first, then shoot yourself in the foot.

He never got the words out and it might have been an interesting one.

We stand doubly alert especially until the anniversary of Terri's killing has passed.

If we come across as terse, our answers are written in archives already and we are hardly wont to rehash them if challenged by someone who wants more than truth and facts and is able to look it all up. On the other hand, we keep a strain of humor and a willingness to help and inform those truly seeking it.

Here is the thread I reference, and posts from #101 to 181.
