ORANGE COUNTY: Sources confirmed to NC WANTED that Durham police have arrested a person of interest in the murder of UNC student body president Eve Carson.
Durham officials turned the man over to police in Chapel Hill, where he is currently being held for questioning.

I did read yesterday the police were also looking at the gang connection (as we spent time doing on the main thread).
There will be a time in the not too distant future the

NC’s last execution was a couple of years ago. Blanche Moore is still on the waiting list. She will die of old age before it happens.

Chapel Hill, N.C. — Durham police have detained a person of interest in the Eve Carson case and turned him over to Chapel Hill authorities, sources tell N.C. Wanted.
Authorities are questioning him. Members of the media have swarmed the Chapel Hill Police Department, but it was unclear if or when authorities would hold a news conference.

The DPD already handed him over to the cops in Chapel Hill. The cops here in Derm are mostly just incompetent. Over in the People’s Republic of Chapel Hell, they might just send him to diversity training and then give him a free scholarship to UNC.
Seriously, though, if he gets convicted, he’ll either get life without parole or a date with the gurney. Orange County/Chapel Hill is maybe the most liberal spot in the state next to Asheville, so it is quite possible that he won’t ride the needle.

WEDNESDAY 8:30 A.M. -- Chapel Hill police have detained a man who might be the person of interest in the investigation of Student Body President Eve Carson's shooting death, ABC 11 is reporting.
Durham police arrested the man at a home on Rosedale Avenue in Durham. Police then handed the suspect off to the Chapel Hill Police Department.
Police have not confirmed a connection between the man and the Carson murder investigation.
But pictures obtained by ABC 11 show a man who fits the description of the person of interest.
Carson was shot to death about 5 a.m. Wednesday. She was identified Thursday and was buried Sunday in her hometown of Athens, Ga.

He looks stoned in the photo where they are bringing him in. I wonder if the perp went on a drug/alcohol binge knowing the authorities were closing in on him.
Either he’s stoned or they woke his sorry butt up from a deep sleep. After all, it’s tiring running around all the time killing people, committing mayhem, and hiding from a manhunt.

Yes it does. I think they got the right guy.
The old adage that a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged - well, the liberals on the campus have been mugged. A well known secret at UNC is that the students are much less liberal than the teachers (which is why the teachers support having more out of state students - more liberals on upper west side than in Pig Droppings, NC). When it becomes clear that this little (pr*ck - there are a lot better words) literally killed her for no particular reason, you will have 20,000 kids ready and willing to pull the switch, administer the shot (either meaning), or whip the horse (no racial meaning here).
What is worse for those of us who fight racism is that sometimes the racists are right! If you walk through the biology department at UNC, and see the African American students who are going to become doctors, they dress the same as this thug! I work with a group that sends minority kids to med school, and I have to explain to these smart kids that if they look like a thug, they will be treated as such and that is NOT racism. The reason this soon to be daisy pusher could walk around downtown Chapel Hill without being ostracized is that the people who actually do belong there dress the same way. Maybe the hat at a different angle.
To all young and ambition blacks - Pull your pants up! Take off the hat! If your peers do not accept you as a person who wants the acheive great things in life, find new peers!

Most likely, somebody ratted him out. Not making that person a hero, because I believe there’s a sizable reward being offered AND it’s your moral and civic duty to turn in a cold-blooded killer.
Just want to emphasize that SOMEBODY went against that “don’t rat out the brother” mantra and did the correct thing.
That COULD be.
But seems like his Houston Astros retro cap in the ATM photo could have obscured some of his most telling characteristics. As well as the different camera angles as between the store pic
and the ATM pic.

I think it is the same guy both in the store and in the car.
Two things. I think maybe it should be said someone 'did the right thing' rather than "ratted him out," if that's what actually happened. It could very well be that investigators knew the man from his pic. I'm sure we'll find all that out in time.
The second thing is it took a bit of time as it was. Nowhere evident were protesters, potbangers and others DEMANDING police action like we had two years ago.
