Muslim extremists should be banned from handing out literature and prevented from sitting on public bodies, David Cameron has said.
The Conservative leader has also accused ministers and councils of allowing fanatics to benefit from public grants to Muslim bodies.
"The Government has allowed hundreds of thousands of pounds to local authorities to improve community cohesion, but there are worrying signs that ministers have taken their eye off the ball," he said.
"I will be making proposals to isolate extremists and make certain they cannot obtain public grants or get invited to sit on public bodies.
"That won't just apply to Islamic extremists. We will be equally vigilant in ensuring that groups linked to the BNP or animal rights militants are excluded too.
"The message should be clear - to those who preach hate, to those who encourage violence, you are not part of the mainstream, you will not get public funding."
Mr Cameron recently attacked Home Office ministers for considering a visa request from Yusuf al-Qaradawi, an extremist preacher who has previously spoken in London.
The move that was condemned because of the cleric's hardline views on Jews and homosexuals. His latest visa request was turned down last month.
Mr Cameron used his speech to the Community Security Trust, a Jewish charity, to attack "middle class English people" backing Hizbollah. He also acknowledged that Jews in Britain were coming under "increasing attack."
He said: "During protests against the conflict in Lebanon, we witnessed the nauseating sight of well-scrubbed, middle class English people marching through central London holding placards that read 'We are al Hizbollah'. That is the extremist mindset in action."
The Community Security Trust recently produced a report which highlighted the increase in attacks on Jews. The number of violent assaults of Jews stood at 114 in 2007 - the highest total since 1984.
Mr Cameron added: "Britain is still a relatively safe place but, as the CST’s latest report shows, Jews in this country are coming under increasing attack.
"The police and security services do a great job but they have many priorities and limited resources. That is why the Community Security Trust is so vital in providing that extra layer of vigilance."
Two weeks ago Mr Cameron became embroiled in a row of school trips to Auschwitz, which he dismissed in a press release as "a gimmick". He claimed that the trips were not, as Gordon Brown said, properly funded.
