WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Voters in two Vermont towns on Tuesday approved a measure that would instruct police to arrest President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for "crimes against our Constitution," local media reported.
The nonbinding, symbolic measure, passed in Brattleboro and Marlboro in a state known for taking liberal positions on national issues, instructs town police to "extradite them to other authorities that may reasonably contend to prosecute them."
Vermont, home to maple syrup and picture-postcard views, is known for its liberal politics.
State lawmakers have passed nonbinding resolutions to end the war in Iraq and impeach Bush and Cheney, and several towns have also passed resolutions of impeachment. None of them have caught on in Washington.
Bush has never visited the state as president, though he has spent vacations at his family compound in nearby Maine.
Roughly 12,000 people live in Brattleboro, located on the Connecticut River in the state's southeastern corner. Nearby Marlboro has a population of roughly 1,000.
I wonder what would happen if the FBI and about 5,000 federal marshal’s showed up and took down the names of the voters and arrested them all for treason and shipped them all to GITMO?

Stupid liberals, the secret service would kick the crap out of your local L.E. officers and they carry more firepower than your agencies have.
I believe it is, but to be taken seriously people would have to stop laughing long enough to think about it.
Interesting - 59% went for Obama but 72% went for McCain (scratches head)

Of course, this was only these two towns ...
Nah! Too harsh. Just throw a barbed wire enclosure around both towns and release the Gitmo detainees in their midst.
“State lawmakers have passed nonbinding resolutions to end the war in Iraq and impeach Bush and Cheney, and several towns have also passed resolutions of impeachment. None of them have caught on in Washington.”
I wonder why .....
Well, when you only have 22 Republicans in the whole town voting it is easy to get results like that I guess....
That should do it.
What internet site can I go to to buy tickets to see the resultant @ss kicking these morons will get when the SS intervenes?
That’s what I was thinking. Do these morons think the SS would just hand them over?
I really wish Bush would say Eff you to these towns, and schedule a trip there tomorrow. Call their damn bluff
Perhaps local governments across America should pass resolutions to arrest citizens of these Vermont towns for “crimes against the Constitution”.
Pay-Per-View, channel 500 with slow motion replays of the really good haymakers and crotch kicks only $9.95!!
LOL. That’s one Pay-Per-View I’d pay for.
Ditto, we should fill his suggestion box with the idea.
seems they are conspiring against the President.
Apparently the imaginary copy used by a growing mass of American ignoramuses which validates anything they feel at any given time.
He should go right up there and say “here I am!”
Why dignify this nonsense with a response?
To point out the fact they are using our election system to promote such nonsense, and to make them look like the asses they are.
LOL! I guar-an-dam-tee you that not one of those idiots could tell you the first 7 words of the pramble to the U.S. Constitution or tell it apart from the Declaration of Independence.
If all the traitors went to GITMO Hollywood and the entertainment industry would be crying their eyes out.
Heil?
I happen to know a Brattleboro policeman.
He is a Reservist who volunteered for duty in Iraq and re-upped for THREE TOURS, including a tour at Gitmo.
The Brattleboro police, and most of the pre-1970’s residents, see things very differently from the weed-smoking, coke-sniffing, nudist-colony communists that invaded from Mass and Connecticut over the last 30 years.
This is absolutely hilarious!
The Mouse That Roared! { 8^D
The state of Vermont has conservative voters, it’s a shame these Left-over 1960s rubbish ruins the state image.
I I were Bush, I’d visit those towns and dare the cops to arrest me.
This should be fun to watch should it ever come to pass. The local “gendarmes” versus the Secret Service.
I’d be willing to buy a ticket for that one!!!
Yes there are but we are in short supply--see my tagline.
Was a great place to grow up in 50's - 60's and then Bernie ("The Avowed Socialist") Sanders moved here from NYC and got involved in politics.
He and other "Progressives" somehow bamboozled State Legislature to pass law allowing students from out-of-state to vote in elections.
Was all down hill from there. Then add thousands of flatlander far left liberals who moved to VT from MA, NY, NJ, etc., who had sold property, came here flush with $$$, had the time to get involved in local/state politics and this is the result.
As much as I am [now] ashamed to my French Canadian heritage and have disowned same, I am doubly ashamed of my home, The People's Republic of Vermont--which HAS TO BE one of the top 10 most liberal states.
These folks obviously have never even read the constitution. It is pretty clear on what happens to public officers such as the President when it comes to criminal judgement.
I think they should take in about 5000 Somali refugees immediately....that would solve a lot of their attitude..
(Tinfoil chapeau at the ready)
I would like to know who's really behind this. Which far-left groups might be clandestinely causing and underwriting this American-president-hating viciousness.
This smacks of leftists trying to start an Anti-Bush city resolution wave so that during the national presidential campaigns and debates, a leftist media can continually try to associate McCain with [artificially induced] unpopularity.
So, I suspect that this is simply a theatrical production of Democrat campaign fodder.
We'll know this fall.
Maybe they,ll send Officer Shifflet to serve the warrant...
President Bush is too much of a gentleman to do that. Cheney on the other hand would look ‘em right in the eye as they are slapping on the cuffs.
Exactly what happened to Oregon and Washngton. Nascent California envirowackos from LA, flush with capital gains from the sale of vastly overpriced houses, moved north and paid exorbitant prices for affordable housing. Ruined the housing market. Once entrenched they drove out or severely compromised the industries that made the state what they were; forestry, hunting, fishing, etc. When they could not kill forestry outright, they used the endagered species laws and the snowey owl.
Bush should E.O. those cities be safe havens for illegal immigrants. Suspend immigration laws there for, say, seven years.
Just what I was thinking. I would like to see Bush and Cheney walk cheerfully down the sidewalks downtown. Just call their bluff. What has he got to lose? Let’s have a little fun.
Good luck on that!

“I wonder what would happen if the FBI and about 5,000 federal marshals showed up and took down the names of the voters and arrested them all for treason and shipped them all to GITMO? “
I don’t know.
Perhaps next year at this time you could ask President Obama or President Clinton.
Or maybe you’ll be incommunicato in Cuba.
For a conservative site this thread sure has a lack of Federalists.
Fly your Confederate flag but get the Feds to assault Vermonters for expressing their opinion of the government? Hmmm.....
Even if no charges are filed, making them post some kind of bail money and fly back from Washington DC in disgrace would be worth the deterrent effect to future cities.
Don't you mean anti-Federalists?
This is outright treason. Arrest of the town councils should be made immediately.
(a little sarcasm for today)
I wonder how these towns would fare if they were invaded by muslim terrorists. They’d all be bowing to Mohammad by 5pm. I bet.
