Israeli fighters were scrambled on Monday after an Egyptian helicopter penetrated Israeli airspace near the Gaza Strip.
According to the reports, Israel initially feared that the aircraft was hostile and was intending to conduct a terror attack. However, after IAF jets established visual contact with the aircraft, they quickly realized that it was a wayward Egyptian helicopter and escorted it back into Egypt.
The IDF confirmed the incident, and said that it "will do what it must in order to defend Israel and its citizens."
Defense officials currently believe that the infiltration was accidental.
Slippery Slope? Maybe next time.
Keep a UCAV in the air 24/7, Israel!
Some poor Egyptian crew chief is hosing the pilot’s s#&$! off of the seats. LOL!
The aircraft was spotted by Israeli forces after it crossed the aerial border. Air Force jets were scrambled to intercept the helicopter and escort it back to Egyptian airspace. Military liaisons from both Israel and Egypt are currently reviewing the incident.

The Eqyptians are lucky this doesn’t read like this.
“Egyptian copter penetrates Israeli airspace then is promptly scrambled by IAF jets.”
A scout helicopter like our OH58 or a German BO105?
People get discombobulated all the time, no big deal. Egypt and Israel are not the issue nor should some harmless accident be played up into something it isn’t.
The real problems are Syria and Iran, not Egypt or Jordan. -IMHO
Yep, I agree.
Somewhere in a cave, a terrorist is making a stencil to paint on a helicopter: “Wayward Egyptian Helicopter”
you can be over the wrong country here with a strong wind.
Trust, but verify, as you say.
Substitute “Israeli” with “North Korean”, “Soviet or “Chinese” and the second sentence would be completely reversed. The axis of evil always fires first and asks questions later.
