Immigrant charged in fatal hit-and-run

A 40-year-old illegal immigrant is charged in the drunken driving hit-and-run death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car and killed alongside La. 182 early Saturday morning, police said.
Victor Santiesteban was more than one-and-a-half times over the legal limit when he stuck and killed 64-year-old Walter Hebert Jr. at about 2 a.m. Saturday and left the scene of the crash, State Police said.
Hebert was walking west in front of the New Horizon bar at 713 La. 182 when he was struck from behind by a west-bound car, State Police said.
A bouncer at the bar told police Hebert, who was walking on the shoulder of the road about five feet from the fog line, had been hit by a red, four-door car.
Hebert was pronounced dead at Terrebonne General Medical Center shortly after the collision.
Soon afterwards, a Houma Police officer on patrol in the area noticed a red 1993 Dodge Spirit parked in front of a house at 155 1/2 La. 182, according to trooper Gilbert Dardar, a spokesman for State Police Troop C.
The car had serious damage, including a smashed windshield, and police arrested Santiesteban after knocking on the door and finding him covered in pieces of broken glass, Dardar said.
Santiesteban registered a blood alcohol content of .129, more than one-and-a-half times the legal limit of .08, police said.
Though he could not say what country he is from, Dardar said Santiesban is an illegal Hispanic immigrant with no driver’s license.
Santiesteban is charged with vehicular homicide, a charge that includes drunken driving, felony hit-and-run, no driver’s license, illegal alien operating a motor vehicle, no insurance and improper lane usage.
They break immigration laws, what makes anyone think they'll be averse to breaking other laws of ours?
God bless this poor guy, struck down like that. Another “cheap” labor victim. It could be anyone of us, or ours, next.

In Colombia, if you kill someone in an auto accident, they consider it murder and you’re locked away for life. There are a lot of hit and run accidents because it’s simply not worth stopping.
Perhaps we should treat the illegals the way they would be back home since that’s what they’re used to.

Are we to believe the situation would be better if the illegal alien had a license? Governor Spitzer thought so.
Is an illegal permitted to have a driver’s license in Louisiana? Maybe I’m missing something. It’s not my intention to unnecessarily berate the spokesman, but the implication that a driver’s license is relevant and will somehow make things better is something I disagree with.

I am vehemently opposed to all illegal immigration. Yet, isn’t it odd that the only illegals that seem to be raping and slaughtering Americans on a regular basis are hispanic?

My first “dane experience” involved an illegal immigrant thread. He was baiting me. Some of his comments would have gotten almost anyone banned.

I had some left over ham and roast turkey. I wanted a sandwich but I'm cutting down on carbs.
So I chopped and grilled the meat, wrapped it in some whole wheat flat bread (less then 10 carbs) added chopped onion, tomato and cheese and scooped in a big dollop of fat free plain yogurt.
That was a yummy Gyro! Next time I'll ask the wife to make some zazicki (sp?)!

Low carb is certainly the way to go. Carbs act like a drug on my, like Benadryl; they put me to sleep.

The open border advocates keep telling us illegal aliens will save social security. The only way that will happen is the way this guy did it...kill off the US citizens before they can collect!
That link is Dane’s last post on file. Dane was gone within about 4 hours of that post.
Dane got his/her(?) kicks by provoking others to get them banned. I know of at least one Dane thread that was recently pulled for “race baiting.” The cause of the suspension/banning may have been another (deleted) thread where Dane finally wore out his/her welcome.
