A few weeks back I noted in my column that when times get tough, Americans will stop worrying about whether polar bears have enough ice and start asking whether those white, furry critters are edible. That comment caused quite a stir, and I would like to thank everyone, in particular the folks from Alaska, for the great recipes they forwarded—“Bear Claw Cordon Bleu” for instance.
A smaller number of folks were offended by my bear remarks. They considered them a veiled swipe at their fellow global warming zealots. My only regret is that they thought my swipe was . . . veiled. I guess I should have taken a cue from General Motors Vice Chairman Bob Lutz who recently told a group of reporters that, in his opinion, global warming is a “total crock of ****.” Nothing veiled about that. And, despite efforts by the climate change mob to silence Mr. Lutz, the man from Detroit refused to back down.
News coverage of Mr. Lutz’s politically incorrect “crock-of-doo-doo” declaration caused me to wonder just how many American business executives harbor the same opinion about global warming, but are too cowardly to utter the words in public? How many parrot the environmental slogans du jour and spout platitudes about corporate social responsibility because they would rather appease the activists than fight to protect their companies and shareholders from the scourge of eco-socialism? I will be keen to watch these corporate Neville Chamberlains squirm when manmade global warming takes its place in the Guinness Book of World Records under the category “Biggest Fraud Perpetrated on Mankind.”
The squirming may commence sooner than later. Apparently Mother Nature hasn’t been influenced by the “we’re-all-going-to-fry” doomsayers. According to a column published this week in Canada’s National Post:
The author of the National Post column, Lorne Gunter, noted, “It would be premature to claim an Ice Age is looming just because we have had one of our most brutal winters in decades. But if environmentalists and environmental reporters can run around shrieking about the manmade destruction of the natural order every time a robin shows up on Georgian Bay two weeks early, then it is at least fair game to use this winter’s weather stories to wonder whether the alarmists are being a tad premature.”
The alarmists are likely to become really alarmed when they read about the International Conference On Climate Change that will begin deliberations in New York City tomorrow. More than 400 scientists, economists and experts are scheduled to attend the three-day event organized by the Heartland Institute for the purpose of challenging the claim that global warming is a “crisis.” According to the sponsors, some 19,000 American scientists have signed a petition saying global warming is probably natural and not a crisis—so much for the often touted consensus that the global warming lobby keeps yapping about.
It’s time for some business group to create a petition for skeptical corporate executives to sign if they question the validity of manmade global warming. The petition could be called the Crock of Doo-Doo Declaration in honor of Bob Lutz. I would bet good money that someday signatories to the petition will be hailed as business leaders who had the intestinal fortitude to stand up to the eco-evangelists and reject their sermon that to save the planet the economy must be destroyed. If the global warming juggernaut isn’t sidetracked soon, I fear we will all be feasting on Bear Claw Cordon Bleu.
I guess I am going to have to pray harder for global warming... I hate winter.

1) Will Algore return all the money he has made from books, speaking engagements, Nobel prizes, and Oscars, when the world realizes his doo-doo?
Will he apologize for this Hoax and admit his error?
We know that the corporate executives at General Electric Co, their board of directors, would take exception to the remaks by the GM honcho.
General Electric is a totally left leaning enterprise and employs a cable and a broadcast television network to propagandize the left wing messaga all across America.
It interesting that GM has recently taken on Rush as a conservative voice to counter the GE liberal crap.

Indeed, Mr. Barnum *never* pretended to be anything other than a ballyhoo artist. He may have taken in suckers, but he did it honestly, and up front...

The saddest person I talked to? A girl not more than 19. Completely brainwashed. She would not even entertain the slightest possibility that politicians like Al Gore were exaggerating the issues. She launched into the tirade and basically said I was insane. That's how badly people can no longer think for themselves. This girl is our future. I think I'm going to cry now!
RE: “wonder just how many American business executives harbor the same opinion about global warming, but are too cowardly to utter the words in public?” - about the same number that have turned around and launched massive ‘green’ programs to sell their products (think HP, BP, ‘environmental’ law firms, all the brokerage firms that are just dying to trade energy and carbon credits, ‘green’ politicians, teachers and teacher unions, the list goes on and on.)
These executives and pros didn’t get to the top of their firms by not recognizing a real profit opportunity. If ‘smoke and mirrors’ will sell, it’s a lot cheaper to produce and the profit margins are far bigger! Why spend the time and effort trying to teach math, critical analysis or independent thought - when ‘group think’ is easier and it all FEELS so much better.

I heard the head of CDC, Dr. Julie Gerberding, say last week that she now looks for any opportunity to interject “climate change” into any conversation she is having.

Citi is a global-warming-lgbt-recycle-or-be-punished mecca. At least, officially. The people who actually run the company seem like decent enough, ordinary folk.
The really stupid thing about the whole global warming bull$*^t is that the fact of the matter is that global warming is A GOOD thing. Entering an ice age would be the disaster.
We're over 120 inches - that's 10 FEET - of snow so far in western Maine. Some folks can't see out their windows and have reenforced them with plywood to prevent them from breaking in. Even the old-timers can't remember seeing anything like it.
It's snowing now. We're supposed to get another storm on Tuesday.
My daughters go to Catholic school and I usually don’t get into politics with them as I want them to learn on their own. The school also usually sticks to traditional schooling. One teacher, however, asked my 10 year old to list 10 ways that she could help stop global warming. I then broke my rule and told her and my other daughters that it is a bunch of bunk and to let me know if they push this anymore as I will step in. I also told her to answer with 1 solution - Nuclear Power. The “global warming” fearmongering seems to have ceased at our school so maybe I am not the only one complaining.
Sadly, there’s a segment of society infected with the disease liberalism. Some are so far gone there simply IS no cure...algore for one.
He’s alike a petulant child, clams there IS no debate...we’re to simply believe him and that’s that! He’ll make a movie, accept awards, joke on stage with Leonardo DiCaprio but he doesn’t DARE debate it, merely claims there IS no debate so his fraud is convniently safe.
I make it a point to expose this and many other frauds...lke when I’m at the pumps gassing up my car...I say loudly...”darn war for oil was a LIE”!
And sometimes I get a two-fer...when the icy wind is cutting through people while gassing up their cars...I point out the war for oil fraud AND the global warming fraud! “I wish algore’s global warming would hurry up and make it all the way down south here to Atlanta”
Sometimes I get a funny response and sometimes I get blank stares from the hopelessly damaged PC loons.
I was watching Larry King and one of them actually said if the surge is working and is a success, why aren’t the troops coming home?
As if there’s som definitive point that this is 100% a done deal and the danger is over.
I WISH someone on the panel had the quick wit (and Ben Stein was doing an admirable job btw) to explain how this would have worked had we left Germany in May 1945. And how we would likely be involed in another disastrous euro-war.

It’s even sunk to the local level. One of our local auto dealers is running commercials saying they will plant trees in the rainforest when you buy your car from them. How nice of them provide free salve for the soul when you purchase your petroleum-gobbling, environment-destroying vehicle.
There's a show I've seen on TV a couple of times over the decades about the polar bears of Churchill, Canada, portraying them in what appears to be a fairly realistic manner (i.e., not cute and cuddly).
Totally devoid of Coca-Cola commercials.

I get that they’re not really like they are in the commercials (although I still enjoy them). I just figured that if root beer goes good on ham, wouldn’t it be funny if Coke went good on polar bear?
Maybe we’ll get a chance to try that out some day...
