Too big (expensive) and MD kind of got absorbed into Boeing if I remember correctly.
I think there were some operational issues but I don’t recall what they were.
Mainly I think it weas technology
The KC 135s are old now and will be ancient when the first new tanker rolls out. That's OK, in a pinch we can refit some B-52's </snark> |
This will be unbelievable for Mobile (my home)!
One of our commissioners said this afternoon: “The eyes of the nation will be on Mobile. They will see a team of Democrats/Republicans and whites and African Americans working together to bring this about. It’s a very proud day for our city”.
Well said.
The Malaysian Times was right!
er Malaysia Sun
I think they are still chopping up our B-52s at the “boneyard”.
The Buffs still in service are actually newer than the KC135’s. They eight engines on the Buff gulp so much fuel that we’d have to build a Pregnant Buff Fuselage to carry enough fuel to refuel a J3 cub : )
“boeings got to make sure it can deliver on its 787 and fix whatever possible 777 engine problems they may have.”
Surely they will be successful as they were with their Virtual Border Fence..
We could ask the Pentagon instead. Or perhaps we could ask Congress, since surely this came down to pork, and not down to who could make the best plane, or even whether the supplier was a US company.
I guess Senators Murray and Cantwell got aced. I wonder which other Senators got hammered here.
and that surprised who?
>>>I guess Senators Murray and Cantwell got aced.
There’s a pretty significant aerospace business infrastructure in Huntsville already. That’s pretty do-able.
The A/V will be built in Europe and modified here in Alabama!
When Boeing acquired McDonald’s these bozo’s were brought over when Stronz was hired as Boeing President and CEO. He brought these crooks over and Boeing has been paying the price ever since.
ooh rah Bama ping.
Great news! Just read EADS/Airbus will also build freighters there!
Would the last person to leave Seattle please turn out the lights?
Or will Bill Gates just change the name to 'Gatesville'?
I agree with you John McCain was against this deal from the get go. At first the Air Force was going to rent to own these or lease to own!
First they switched them to Berets and now this.
We deserve what we get.
You should see the whining in the Seattle Times comments section. Sample:
“At least the Airbus proposal will end up providing some income to those knucklescrapers down south.”
Liberals are soooooo unbiased, ya know.
BTW:
The first plane is predicted for delivery in 2013.
