BEIRUT, Lebanon - Hezbollah on Friday rejected the deployment of U.S. warships off Lebanon, calling it a threat to the country that will not affect the militant group.

"We are facing an American threat against Lebanon," Hezbollah legislator Hassan Fadlallah said. "It is clear this threat and intimidation will not affect us."

I read the article and I didn’t see in there anyone was seeking the Hezbollah’s approval.

How exactly do they plan on “rejecting” the US Navy?

Pres. Bush in August of 2006

In Lebanon, we saw a sovereign nation occupied by the Syrian dictatorship. We also saw the courageous people of Lebanon take to the streets to demand their independence.

Our enemy saw the transformation in Lebanon and set out to destabilize the young democracy. Hezbollah launched an unprovoked attack on Israel that undermined the democrat government in Beirut. Yet, their brazen action caused the world to unite in support for Lebanon's democracy.

Together, we're going to make it clear to the world that foreign forces and terrorists have no place in a free and democratic Lebanon.

Time to make it happen, Mr. President!

It probably won’t affect them. The ships will cruise off Lebanon for a week or two then go away. Nobody will be landed and nothing will be fired.

Well, then, I encourage to them to paddle out to the fleet and do something about it...

U.S. Navy should be on the guard just in case Hezbollah has a few more Chinese C-802 antiship missiles.

I hope they keep the Phalanx guns should they get in sight of shore. I’m thinking it was an Iranian 802 that hit the Israeli warship last year. Several were killed IIRC.

Yep. Didn’t expect it. I think Hezbollah even took video of the launch. Iran’s missiles have now already killed Israeli sailors.
