Congress Contemplates Giving Cash to Foreigners
Eagle Forum ^ | Feb. 27, '08 | Phyllis Schlafly

Posted on 02/27/2008 6:12:26 PM PST by T.L.Sink

Why are Republicans in Congress trying to help Barack Obama? Republicans allowed a bill that carries his name to pass the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by voice vote without any hearings, which means there was no roll-call vote so we can't hold any member accountable. The Obama bill passed out of Committee with the cooperation of the ranking Republican, Sen. Richard Lugar, who never saw a U.N. enhancement bill he didn't like. Obama's costly, dangerous, and altogether bad bill is called the Global Poverty Act. It would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend .7 percent of our Gross Domestic Product on foreign handouts, which is at least $30 billion over and above the exorbitant and wasted sums we already give away. The notion that U.S. taxpayers could or should cut in half the number of people worldwide who live in poverty by 2015 is ridiculous. The scariest thing in Obama's bill is Millenium Development Goal, which calls for "redistribution of wealth and land," cancellation of the debts of developing countries, and a "fair distribution of the earth's resources" (from the United States to the rest of the world, of course). It doesn't bother UN sycophants that most of our foreign handouts go to corrupt dictators who hate us and vote against us and that only 30 percent of our money ever reaches the poor. And there's much more to the Millenium Goals. It sets forth a comprehensive plan to put the United States under UN global governance. Obama's Global Poverty Act would be a giant step toward the Millenium Goals of global governance and international taxes on Americans.

An article I posted on 2/23 (UN Panel Says U.S. Has to Step Up Efforts to Combat Racial Discrimination) clearly showed that the UN is examining our domestic policies, including our treatment of illegal aliens. Note the phrases that should alert us to the socialist/Marxist nature of this agenda: "redistribution of wealth," "fair distribution of resources," cancellation of debts of the "developing" countries, etc. Support for such a preposterous measure can be expected from an Obama. But why from Republicans? Perhaps because these are the same RINOs who proved they don't give a damn about American sovereignty when it comes to defending our borders againt a massive illegal invasion by foreigners (and perhaps a few terrorists). The UN will not take away our sovereignty. We will eventually surrender it because there are so many willing globalist accomplices in political power here. Perhaps "useful idiots" is a better term. By the way, .7 percent doesn't sound like much. But as a percentage of a GDP in the trillions it's .7 percent too much!

American taxpayers should add up the dollars spent on welfare, government workers (other wise known as welfare for those who can’t get a real job), foreign aid, etc, then divide it by the number of us actually paying the taxes and take that number as a charitable deduction since that is what it really is.

Each of us should listen closely to our congress. For when our congressional people are not busy selling the Citizens down the river, our congressional people are busy apologizing to people because they (our congressional people) have not sold the Citizens far enough down the river for those like the 'un' to be happy with congressional action to sell the Citizens down the river. Yes, Citizens, Americans are in more trouble than any of us are being told....mho, all one has to do is listen to and watch our congressional people.

...to pass the Senate Foreign Relations Committee by voice vote without any hearings...

In this day and age, voice votes should be outlawed. Period! Put a GD voting console at each of their stations and make them use them. There is no non nefarious reason to accept a voice vote today except to allow these weasels to escape accountability!

It does nothing more than give Obama some kind of record. Republicans know that Bush would veto it and also be able to use it against Obama in the general election.

Republican Senators needed to get this liberal bill passed out of committee quickly with a voice vote so they could get back to pleading with conservatives to vote for Senator McCain.

Think about this - congress has an approval rating of around 11% - much lower than even President Bush.

Historically, there is probably no group of people less qualified and fit to be be president than senators yet America is getting ready to elect a Senator to be President.

And Republicann leaders are pushing conservatives to vote for one of the most arrogant, incompetent (from a conservative’s view) republican senator of them all.

Talk about rewarding incompetence and failure!

Because Americans are stupid and don't have a clue what is going on. Because Americans think that their elected officials really care about the public when they only care about themselves and getting rich while in office. Because the few of us who write or email our Senators or in my case, all Class II and III Republican Senators, get tired of all the work with none of the benefits. I feel as if I'm just one voice crying out "In the Wilderness of your Lives, Make a Straight Path."

Read this and weep for our Country.

Barak Obama is 50% Caucasian, 43.75% Arab, and only 6.25% Negro-African. He doesn't have the lawful 12.5% Negro-African to legally claim to be African-American. Barak Obama is ARAB-AMERICAN.

From an email from someone who returned to the States on Feb 11 this year: “We were asked everywhere about the Presidential race in America. There was great interest. The Jews came up to us and asked us many questions. They said they do not want the Clintons again. They warned us that Obama is a Muslim, not a Christian. In Egypt, the Arabs said the same thing to us; they said Obama is Muslim and they are amazed that Americans would consider electing a Muslim President of America!!”

Right - it also reminds us of the comprehensive “amnesty” immigration bill that was written behind closed doors in secret sessions with the public and press not privy to what was taking place and who was saying what. And then the attempt to railroad it through without debate before we could find out what was really being passed. It was only by chance that it became public.

We know one thing for sure. Those who took an oath to defend and obey the U.S. Constitution are often guilty of some sort of perjury. For example, how many of our elected officials who fail to secure our borders and defend our national sovereignty have violated Article IV., Section 4., of the Constitution?

“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion.”

Even the open-borders pro-amnesty lobby won’t deny the massive illegal alien tsunami is an invasion. The fact is that for many politicians the Constitution they swear to uphold means nothing - it’s just another routine political ritual they have to go through.

Personally, I think that’s a great observation. I can’t see any difference between McCain, Hillary, and Obama except the difference between the bad, the worse, and the worst. I think that the only option conservatives will have in the next election is to seek out and support conservatives on the state and congressional levels that are up for election. Unfortunately, I think too many will just consider who’s running for president and drop out.

From the article:
"The goal is to reduce U.S. influence to 1 out of 192 nations, so we would have merely the same vote as Cuba. "

At the 1945 Yalta conference FDR gave away a great opportunity for the US to pack the UN with its States. A demand by the Soviet Union that all fifteen Soviet Socialist Republics be recognized as member states in the UN was counter-demanded by the United States that all then forty-eight states be similarly recognized. But FDR gave in to Stalin. If he had not, we would have fifty votes in the UN. Maybe we should seriously consider making our States members of the UN. Make Texas five states to make up for the socialist five in New England. Make all the California Republican counties separate States and members of the UN. Pack the UN with our States -- the smallest of which is still bigger than many present UN member States!

I think so too and the really dangerous thing about McCain is that he’s not just a passive, get-along RINO. He’s aggressively violated not just core conservative principles but even the Constitution. Look at McCain/Kennedy, amnesty for ILLEGAL aliens; McCain/Feingold campaign finance reform, violates the First Amendment; McCain/Lieberman, buys into the global warming hysteria and will tax and cripple the economy; was one of two Republicans who opposed tax cuts but now flip-flops and pretends he’s a fiscal conservative. I could go on but there isn’t the time or space.

"...the really dangerous thing about McCain is that he’s not just a passive, get-along RINO.

Excellent observation!
If John McCain was a dog the headline would be

Dog Bites Hand That Feeds It!

He is the grade school kid that sucked up to the teacher but was always kicking you in the ankles when he stood behind you in line.

There is definitely something out of kilter in his psyche.
Maybe it is guilt or embarrassment from something in his past.
At any rate he is one sick unit.
He works too hard to put up a facade of being Mr. Clean when his background is chock full of the same questionable conduct he criticizes in others.

He seems to reserve his hate and most biting attacks for people on his own side and his most fawning behavior for democrats.

He is negative, aggressive and antagonistic to conservatives, the group to which he claims membership, while he is positive, respectful and personable to the liberal/democrat opposition who use him then abuse him.

Look at his reaction to the recent episode involving radio talk show host Bill Cunningham.

McCain Scrambles to Control Backers

"Cunningham says he was told by party officials to give the audience red meat to warm up the crowd that came to see McCain. He says he did and the crowd loved it, but McCain then threw him under the bus. Cunningham says McCain has now lost his support."

"I'm gonna follow the lead of Ann Coulter. I've had it with John McCain," Cunningham told FOX News' "Hannity & Colmes."

"I'm going to endorse Hillary Rodham Clinton for president because she would do a better job in the Oval Office, I think, than the liberal John McCain. I'm done with him."

Cunningham said McCain "embarrassed himself," and then made up a name of his own for the Arizona senator, "John Juan Pablo McCain," an apparent reference to McCain's sponsorship of immigration reform legislation. He added that McCain should be "repudiating Democrats and leaving conservatives alone."

"Meanwhile, as McCain preaches civility, his own campaign put out a call to Obama's camp to call off Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, who has been attacking McCain for choosing to forgo public campaign financing."

"Howard Dean and the Democratic National Committee leadership have launched a personal and negative assault on Senator McCain's character. Howard Dean himself questioned Senator McCain's integrity, and a DNC official called McCain a liar," said Communications Director Jill Hazelbaker."

I agree with you and think you’re 100% on the mark about McCain. I listen to Cunningham every Sunday night on his 50- state three hour broadcast (where he’s replaced Drudge)and any regular listener knows that Bill is a satirist - and a satirist always pushes the envelope. But despite his style, he discusses with his vast audience many serious issues of concern to all conservatives. The bottom line is that he’s a solid conservative. Only a McCain could turn a guy like that into an enemy. Your mention of a dog reminds me of a saying that Mark Twain used. He said that the one difference between a nasty dog and some people is that the dog will never bite the one who is feeding it. I think that somehow that tells us something about McCain. Thanks for that reference to McCain by Fox. Regards,

My sentiments exactly. When one steps back for a moment and thinks of all the serious national and international problems the Congress of the United States should prioritze, one is almost left breathless at the Clemens spectacle. What next - a commission to investigate any abuses in the nation’s little league teams? It would be funny if it weren’t such an arrant waste of their time and (our) money.
