More armed people would bring more impulsive shootings
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | 2/21/08 | FREDERICK J. ROKASKY

In 1979 I carried a gun. I had a permit to do so. It was a 9 mm Browning automatic with 14 rounds in a clip. The reason I had a weapon was because I handled large sums of money, and my boss suggested that it might be a good idea. I carried my 9 mm every time I went out...

Throw a Hi Point or Lorcin in the safe and they’ll all pick on it and leave each other alone.

Classical case of projection. He believes that his unacceptable thoughts can actually be influenced by an inanimate object, therefor NO ONE should have guns.

What do you expect from that commie rag “The Pittsburgh Post Gazette?

The Trib-Review is the ONLY paper worth reading in the Steel City and even Scaife’s paper is more of a Rockefeller Republican organ.

Clip-magazine-in some circles the terms are very interchangeable, although not technically correct.

His poor use of terms should not be the issue we focus on, rather the elitist/statist bent of his monotribe.

The liberal media knows what it is doing-confusing the facts (the sun does in fact rise in the east, just as the right to self-defense (with arms) is a fact, enacted both by our Creator, not by a group of men with liberty on their minds, they simply wrote it down.

Man tends to counterfeit all of God’s principles (thereby elevating man to some higher level, I guess).

The problem is that many if not most Americans swallow these camels w/o a sinlge gag reflex....

That is the scary part!

MOLON LABE

God Bless

Thats why they have a lower rate of law breaking than, say, cops.

Do you have link for that? It's not that I doubt it, I believe it with all my heart. It's just useful to have sources when arguing with hoplophobes. Not that facts have any effect on the mentally ill.

And the goobermint should ban knives and forks too. Only plastic sporks (spoon with slight fork cuts in the tip) should be allowed. The goobermint should come around and cut people’s food for them. That is the only safe thing to do. People just can’t be trusted.

Is this similar to the techniques revealed in “The Cloud of Unknowing”?

M1 uses enbloc clips. I have ammo clips for loading my AR magazines with.

Picking a nit, but it pretty much shows the authors lack of serious firearms knowledge.

I think the Brits in their version of English still use “automatic” in the sense in which we use “’semi’-automatic”. (A good example is Ian Hogg’s book.)

LOL...my BS meter went off as soon as this liar said he sold his gun back to the same gun shop he bought it from a year later for the same amount he bought it for. Riiiiiiiight. There isn’t a gun shop in this country that wouldn’t discount the buy back price by 30% minimum as soon as you sign the 4473.
Also, he doesn’t know what a magazine is. And he’s never looked at the statistics where concealed carry is allowed in regards to increase or decrease in shootings.
This letter is so full of lies, it’s amazing that anyone would believe any of it. The sad problem is though, that most people who are as ignorant or uninformed as he is, WILL believe it.

This is stamped 22 Automatic and it uses ONLY 22 automatic ammunition!

Its a Winchester model 1903 and the first 22 cal self loading rifle made.

Most 22 cal rifles in that day used black powder and this used the new smokeless powder.

It uses a slightly different size of 22 ammunition.

But you are correct, in function it is semi auto.

Sarcasm aside it saddens me that this kind of ignorance and naivete can still exist.

It's neither. It is a conscious agenda that defies reason, whose purpose we can only guess at (I am not paranoid).

Of course, "if More armed people [exist, it] would bring more impulsive shootings" (!!!)...

Exactly the same thing would happen if there were simply more people!

Left out of the assertion in the stupid claim (deliberately, I suspect) is the other side of the coin:

Fewer innocent victims will lose their lives, including in mass murder scenarios at shopping centers and universities ( a good thing), and more criminally-inclined low-lifes, gang-bangers, drug types and other losers would die ( a great thing).

It doesn't take a lot of intellectual horsepower, or time, be be able to see the obvious.

“More armed people would bring more impulsive shootings.”

This is what socialists think because they wake up every morning angry at the world and would indeed go on impulsive shooting rampages if they were armed. Since they are like that, they assume that everyone is like that.

They don’t realize that there are many people in the world who are happy, well adjusted people, that are responsible and very safe carrying and using guns.

"It was a 9 mm Browning automatic with 14 rounds in a clip."

Ignoramus alert!

A) It was not an automatic. It was a semi-automatic.

B) It was not a clip. It was a magazine.

Someone so ignorant about firearms is not entitled to an opinion about them.

In 1979? This is code for "I am a jagoff who watched Serpico too many times."

Maybe so, but John Browning patented the Hi-Power in 1922, and FN further developed it and first sold it in 1935. It had a 13 round magazine plus one in the chamber, for a total of 14 rounds.

So yeah, a 13+1 9mm was available in 1979.

Like in Texas or Montana?

Please. Illinois has just as many murders as Texas.

Illinois has 12 million people. Texas has 27 million.

Plus Texas has a border with Mexico.
