A brand-spanking-new television ad produced by Move America Forward attacking the Berkeley City Council for their campaign against the military has just been released!
You can see the ad here below. The ad will be presented to the news media at 2 news conferences tomorrow - Thursday, February 21, 2008.
Move America Forward is raising money for the ad campaign and will begin airing the ad nationwide starting this upcoming Monday.

:-) We’re working hard on this. Been a long few days here running around putting this together!
There was some discussion about how far to reasonably go. We decided to let the military vets and Marine Mom be tough, but not curse - since that can't make it on TV.
So you have the finger-jabbing of Marine Mom Deborah Johns, Korea era-Vet John Bringuel saying "ingrates" and then both Bringuel and Marine Eamon Kelly making our central point: we're making a stand now, to not only condemn you, but to make sure you aren't allowed to set a standard for any other city in America to dare even think of engaging such atrocious conduct.
So he went to the protest in incrutiating pain, supported by a cane, and was there for 12 HOURS STRAIGHT.
He's a fantastic young man and a fine American!

We're raising money with our hat out to our supporters, and trying to get the frequency of the ad runs as high as we can!
Like I said to another FReeper - for us, it's not just about fighting Berkeley, it's about making sure this doesn't spread to other cities!
She did that from scratch, without any notes, just straight from the heart.

The petition
We, the undersigned condemn the Berkeley City Council’s treasonous attack on US Marine Recruiters stationed in their city. We ask that Congress cut off funds from any and all municipal entity within the confines of the city of Berkeley, California, until such time as the city council withdraws it’s action.
The City Council has voted to tell the Marines their downtown recruiting station is not welcome and “if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as uninvited and unwelcome guests.”
The measure passed last week by a vote of 8-1.
The council also voted to explore enforcing a city anti-discrimination law, focusing on the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.
In a separate item, the council voted, also 8-1, to give the Marxist protest group Code Pink a parking space in front of the recruiting office once a week for six months and a free sound permit for protesting once a week.

The Berkeley City council is telling us the same things that the al Qaeda terrorists are telling us: “leave our city.”
Politics has made some strange bedfellows, but did you ever think that we’d see the day that some of our own politicians would agree with the enemy of all the innocent persons on earth? These politicians’ and the terrorists’ politics of hatred is a common element, a common motivator.
We prefer to stand united with our nation, not the terrorists.
We oppose these two cults of hatred. We love liberty and believe that tyranny should be fought, not embraced. We ask for the Berleley Council to resign for the good of their city, the good of their businesses, the good of the innocent persons who are threatened by the hate-filled forces and resign for the good of this nation.
Don’t sign a petition. Invest the 43 cents and send them your letter. Drown them with paperwork and call them at their businesses and their homes. Let their families know that you stand against terrorism, not in partnership with their hatred.
