Allow me a dose of hardened market realism concerning Barack Obamas landslide victory in Wisconsin. The race is over. Hillary Clinton is over. Her electability is over. Bill Clintons political invincibility is over. The Clinton Restoration is over.
Its over.
Obama got to the far left faster than Hillary did. He out-organized her, out-fundraised her, out-speechified her, out-hustled her, out-dressed her, and out-presidentialed her. He outbid Hillary for votes, one promised government check at a time. His 17-point margin of victory in Wisconsin was incredible. It says he cant be stopped.
Outside of the whacko ultra-left Madison college population, which is even worse than the Ohio State population, Wisconsin is a lot like Ohio. And Ohio campuses will go for Obama. Think faculty voters, grimly determined for a left-wing takeover of America from the bottom up, to use the Saul Alinsky community-organizer phrase. As goes Wisconsin, so goes Ohio.
Not even Hillarys last-minute bashing of business, free trade, and free-market capitalism which was a complete repudiation of her husbands presidency could save her. Obama got there first, with a style and elegance that Hillary simply couldnt match.
And it came out of nowhere. On the eve of the Wisconsin primary, Hillary did a hard-left imitation of John Edwardss populist and demagogic soak-the-rich rhetoric. She trashed some of the greatest businesses in America oil, credit-card, insurance, and pharmaceutical firms. Wall Street and lending firms. It all must have come as quite a shock to the alumni of the Bill Clinton White House who are working for her campaign.
Robert Rubin may have been too busy tending to Citigroups sub-prime collapse to keep Hillary on the reservation. But where were Wall Streets Roger Altman and Washingtons Gene Sperling when Hillary discarded the pinstripes for the polyester lefty-union pantsuit?
Bashing business comes naturally to Obama. But for Hillary it was a complete failure. Exit polls from Wisconsin say the trade protectionists went with Obama. Union members? Obama. People who think the economys in trouble? Obama. Folks who dont think its in trouble? Obama. People making less than $50,000 a year? Obama. More than $50,000 a year? Obama.
And it only gets worse.
Voters went with Obama on healthcare by 8 points, on the economy by 16 points, and on Iraq by 20 points. Churchgoers and non-churchgoers went with Obama. Most qualified to be commander-in-chief? Obama. College degree or no college degree? Obama. Democrats, Republicans, and independents went with Obama. So did blacks and whites.
White women did in fact lean toward Hillary, by a small 52 to 47 percent margin. But Hillary only got 31 percent of the male vote while tying the female vote. White males? They went with Obama by a full 29 points.
Obama won both married men and women, and he tied on unmarried women a heretofore Hillary stronghold. Most likely to unite the country? Obama, by almost 30 points. Most interested in improving relations with the rest of the world? Obama, 56 to 40.
You think these trends are going to change in Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania? I dont no matter what last-gasp neutron-negativism tactics the Clinton team employs.
Bash Obama for plagiarizing Deval Patrick? That negativism backfired. Go after Michelle Obamas incredible anti-American speech? Women are coming round to Obama, so try again. Go super-negative over the next two weeks? Thatll mean Obama beats Hillary by 35 points instead of 20. Lift the sanctions on the Michigan and Florida delegates? Thats an Obama trump card. Bribe or rent the super-delegates? Make my day, Obama is thinking.
If Hillary wants to preserve her career as a professional politician her best bet is to pull back in Texas and Ohio as a prelude to withdrawal. Bill will say no, cause his career is even deader than hers. But Hillary has more class than her husband. She also has some vague sense of reality of the difference between right and wrong.
The Intrade pay-to-play prediction market showed Obama with a 10 point gain after Wisconsin, giving him an insurmountable 81 to 19 lead. Its as if Hillary has suddenly become a steeply inverted yield curve, with a rapidly declining credit rating and a liquidity pool thats quickly drying up. She wont be able to raise two wooden nickels going forward. Not even Bill can raise enough money in Dubai to keep her out of bankruptcy.
The market has officially pulled the plug on Hillary, terminating her campaign. Whats left for her now is to muster some grace, humility, and character and begin the process of pulling out. To do otherwise will destroy the Democratic party, and whats left of the Clintons badly tarred and tattered reputation.
Methinks HillBillary isn’t going to let go of this as quickly as reason might dictate—there’s going to be blood before this is all over, people!
Stay, Hillary stay!
I’d agree but I think Kudlow is basically an idiot so am discounting this article.
On the economy, it’s “Rah Rah” no matter what the news item is. Very difficult to take him seriously.
LOL! That's about like saying cat poop smells better than horse poop.
Time for Hillary to get forked.
Actually, it’s the opposite. ;>)
It ain't over by a long shot. But they can all dream a good dream if they want. I bet Obama don't think its over.
She won't withdraw.
Charles II was bad enough.
Couldn’t have imagined Clinton II.
If they were mathematically eliminated they might pull out gracefully, maybe. But even if Obama stays on a roll through Texas and Ohio, it will still be close in the delegate count. Bill will strong arm the super delegates to try to win this thing.
I think she should stay in.
Hillary. The new Huckabee.
It does! That's my dog's opinion, anyway.
Ding, Dong, The Witch is Dead.
OTOH, It will honestly be so totally over for Hillary if Obama takes PA.
sw
You may be right. Literally.
Anyone who can be perceived as personally being an obstacle to hildebeeste's lust for power should be very careful.
It’s over! And if anything, it’s Bush’s fault. I think a lot of people lump in the Clintons with the Bushes, and just want an end to those two political dynasties.
WI is being overblown. It fits the states he always win. Smaller states go Obama. Big states go Clinton. Only exception so far has been IL, Obama’s home state. I expect OH, PA and TX to go Clinton. He may slip in with a victory in one of the three.

sw
Superdelegates.....can’t wait to see what happens with these.
She's playing the same tune in Ohio, and people are listening. The RCP average poll has her with about a 15 point lead here.
This isn't over, people. The Clintons have been down before and come back. They have a lot of (dirty) tricks up their sleeves yet. Remember Clinton's impeachment? People were writing him off then, too, how he couldn't stay in office, how he'd have to resign, blah blah blah. What did he do? He brazened it out. He told his critics and detractors to stuff it, and took his fight to the well of the U. S. Senate. I would not be surprised to see Hillary drag this fight onto the floor of the 'Rat convention, fighting to seat those delegates from FL and MI she's got stashed away, and other things.
I’m thinking he should totally avoid hotel kitchens, myself. :-O
If there's no convention fight, with delegate stealing and backlash riots, then O'bama is harder to beat.
Bingo!!!!
Nothing like the smell of fresh horse manure in the morning.....but cat poop....ewwww ...now that’ll gag a maggot;)
I've been worried this would happen. Billary is bad but I truly believe Hussein is much worse. Obama has bought out dozens of tv commercial slots in Texas but I haven't seen a single one for Hillary.
The only two things in the article I can find fault with.
The general consensus seems to be that Clinton can only win by going ugly, with lawsuits, cracking delegations, stealing Florida and Michigan, whatever they have to do. The question remains whether they would tear down the house in order to seize the nomination, and if they did, would it be worth anything. Time will tell, because I don’t see them going quietly after thirty years of strategising to get to this point.
Get the popcorn! I'm hoping for a giant RIFT in the Dem party.
Hey, saw a Subaru with a Gore-Obama bumper sticker today. It said, "The Right Time, The Right Choice." Gotta love that.
Obama’s suicide has a name.
Larry Sinclair.
And if there is nothing to this story... Then B. Hussein will land-slide into the Democrat nomination.
Not before McCain gives it to Mexico!
(just kidding...I think)
I saw the overflowing lines of people waiting to get into Reunion Arena, here in Dallas, for the Obama rally.
No way Hillary! wins in Texas.
Hillary and Bubba couldn’t exit the White House with grace and dignity. They had to drag out their departure all day. There is NO WAY IN HELL she’s going anywhere. They will have to drag her kicking and screaming from the Dem. convention.
I wouldn’t put it past her
If there was any substance to that, you'd think Hillary and crew would be keeping that guy well-fed and cloistered until nearly Zero Hour.
Stick a fork in it. It is done, like dinner.
Here’s a thought:
Primaries tend to magnify the desire of the party’s extremes. Obama is far far left. Hillary tried to “triangulate” the center. Obama appealed more to the extremists, extremist candidates tend to win primaries, Obama wins.
McCain wins the Republican primary for the same reason: he’s the most extreme (in either direction) and was not diluted by trying to appeal to the far end of his party like a half-dozen others did (which did end up diluting the far right vote). While a bunch were reaching right, McCain was the only to really reach left, and won by being the most extreme.
Ironic, isn’t it? Hillary loses her lifetime dream because she’s not visibly leftist _enough_.
All I can say is yowsah!
I have.
Just look for a beast wearing a pants-suit.
If Minister Obama loses either the nomination or the election, there’s going to be blood in the streets. And if he wins ... well, there’s going to be blood in the streets. Remember, his most ardent supporters are the people who burn down Detroit when the Pistons win.
We thing alike, old pard!
Now showing at Democrat Primaries...
nationwide!
Let the games...
begin!
Nope. This is exactly why Senator Clinton will win - because everyone thinks she’s toast.
Between Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania all coming up, Clinton has major poll leads in all three. That’s 577 votes up for grabs, with the majority being hers.
Larry Sinclair. This years’ October Surprize.
...or what will happen during the Clinton’s watch.
He should probably stay off the balcony.
