SEVERAL hundred protesters threw stones and flares at riot police protecting the US embassy in Belgrade today after Kosovo's declaration of independence, witnesses said.

One policeman was injured during scuffles as riot police fought to keep the protesters, mainly hardline football fans, away from the embassy building, the witnesses said. One embassy window was smashed.

The protesters marched through the middle of the capital towards the US embassy chanting "Kosovo is Serbia" and anti-American slogans. They waved Serbian flags and vowed to protest "until Kosovo is returned to Serbia".

After the scuffles, protesters dispersed in nearby streets, while the police remained around the embassy compound.

I might just have to shoot somebody if he shot a flare at me.

A touch of irony: the soccer hooligans are the last hope for a dying Western civilization, before the Dhimmis take over and submit all of Europe to the Caliphate.

Serbs have long memories. They think in millennia, not decades. Kosovo will be restored to Serbia. It will endure long after the United States of America, with its brief history of 300 or (doubtfully) 400 has foundered.

I don’t really blame them. Clinton sent our troops in there to make it easier fot the islamic hordes to overrun them.

I’d be throwing more than rocks if I were a Serb. Funny how Bush seems to support immigrants taking over here, as well as Serbia.

It makes me sad what our government has done as a Serbian American. No respect for international law, or the UN. While Resolution 1244 guarantees the sovereignity of Yugoslavia with Kosovo an integral part of, the US government has as much respect for those agreements as toilet paper.

All that talk about failed negotiations was trash. They gave the albanians a wink and a nod and said it will be yours no matter what. They didnt even attempt to negotiate in good faith. The Russians are furious and US, and European oil companies better watch out or they will be packing from the likes of Sakhalin and other places they have interests in.

The US government totally miscalculated the situation. They dont understand Serbs, and expected them to just say, OK and walk away. I think this whole situation has the potential to explode. The Bosnian Serbs are just waiting for a referendum to get out of Bosnia. If the Albanians can, why not them. Condie is so ineffectual.
