the unprecidented, Internet-fostered slander campaign against Huckabee, for the sake of his rivals.

Oh, man, your tinfoil hat is on WAY too tight!

Ah. I see where you’re coming from, but personally, I’d have preferred that he neglect this particular “responsibility.” Thanks for the clarification.

Trust him or not, he’s the only thing right of McCain still in the race

“That’s very debatable.”

Guess you’re thinking Hillary?

Yep, employee benefits are shameful. We corpratist paternalists who offer such to our employees are doing a disservice to them.

Proponents of state-run healthcare use the same kind of sentiment. In either case, the actually conservative approach is to let the individuals and their families be the empowered ones, not the employers nor the state.

Nope, just hair -- which, gratefully, grows outside my skull.

About 90% are distortions and lies.

We posted dozens of links to videos and statements about Huckabee's real intentions. Yet you call these irrefutable facts, "lies."

Apparently, you've learned from the master. Casually shrug your shoulders and dismiss criticisms in an "aw shucks" manner. What's next, you're going to crack some lame jokes?

You’re kidding, right?

I own a company and I offer my employees health benefits. Do you think I do it to empower myself? I could put almost $75,000 more in my pocket each year - that would empower me. I could send my kids to Christian school and pay off my house sooner.

My employees are glad to have the benefit. They asked for the benefit and we negotiated with them to provide something they wanted.

My employees are empowered because they don’t have to worry about health insurance because we pay for it.

Business is not bad, contrary to your opinion.

I actually researched — and researched with an unjaundiced eye.

I congratulate you on your success. Business is wonderful, just as Mike Huckabee says (and as Arkansas business leaders say about him).

Helping is wonderful too. And I think Senators Clinton and Obama really do want to help.

I really do think that corporate paternalism is not as bad as state paternalism. But, I would like to see the system grow into the more conservative condition of individuals being in charge of their healthcare (and being able to afford it!) wherever and however they may choose to work.

I think that would be better for your productive business, too.

Pushing for tax hikes, nanny-state, pro-illegal immigration, etc. is not conservative.

....but it is the New Republican Party.

FReeping the Vote. Following up on JR's no-McCain objective

Here's the way you can help, whether your motive is to help Huckabee or just to see if there is yet a way to prevent a first ballot McCain victory -- especially if he gets really weird on us again and begins to embarrass even his own delegates.

But that's not MH's Republican Party. That new Republican party is a Pro-American party -- like the original Republican Party.

A conservative condition allows employers and employees to negotiate terms of employment, including benefits as they see fit. It is not paternalism, it is called a contract.

You speak the democrat speak calling it “health care”. It is called health insurance. Businesses pay for health insurance, but employees and their doctors are the ones who deal with their “health care”.

And frankly, I don’t care whether Huckabee thinks business is wonderful. (And to be honest, saying business is wonderful is the most ridiculous platitude I have ever heard - especially since you branded business “corpratist paternalists” just five minutes ago.)

“yet a way to prevent a first ballot McCain victory — especially if he gets really weird on us again and begins to embarrass even his own delegates.”

You speak of slandering Huckabee by people discussing his record and yet you speak like this? (and the one upthread where you spoke of McCain losing his mind or some such thing before the convention). That is slander.

Get the chip off your shoulder. “Business is wonderful” is not a quote from Huckabee. And I did not brand business as “corporatist.”

Corporatism is bad.

Business is good.

There. Better? Smile, Adam Smith, James Madison, Abraham Lincoln, Mike Huckabee and I love you. Even TR speaks very highly.

Huck is the best thing still running. Perfect, no. But less of a slickster than Mitt Romney, who even took in a number of Freepers. His true colors (McCain endorsement) have since come through.
