Don't cry for Hillary yet: New polls give her edge in crucial contests
Daily News ^ | February 14, 2008 | MICHAEL SAUL

Hillary Clinton holds commanding leads over Barack Obama in Ohio and Pennsylvania, two of the three upcoming mega-states that will determine the fate of her White House ambitions. Clinton leads Obama 55% to 34% among likely Democratic primary voters in Ohio, and she's besting him 52% to 36% in Pennsylvania, according to Quinnipiac University polls released today. After losing eight contests to Obama in the span of four days, Clinton and her campaign are now looking to the remaining big states - Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania - to halt the Illinois senator's political momentum. Ohio and Texas, along with Rhode Island and Vermont, hold primaries on March 4. The Pennsylvania primary is April 22. According to the Quinnipiac poll, voters in the Buckeye and Keystone states consider the economy, not the war in Iraq, as the most important issue. "Ohio is as good a demographic fit for Sen. Clinton as she will find," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "It is blue-collar America, with a smaller percentage of both Democrats with college educations and African- Americans than in many other states where Sen. Obama has carried the day," Brown said. "If Clinton can't win the primary there, it is very difficult to see how she stops Obama."

I wouldn’t cry for her. She can do that all by herself.

The polls have been horribly wrong in this election cycle.

She was leading in Maryland and Virginia by similar margins just two weeks before she lost both by 60-40 margins. Two weeks is an eternity in politics.

Dead on! Well said. I don’t see how momentum like Hussein’s can be stopped.

Orville Reddenbacker doesn’t make enough popcorn in a year to supply me in this election!

I sense impending doom as more and more half-wits cheer that the witch is dead. Note to half-wits: These are the KKKlintons, they don’t quit, they don’t die, and they never stop working to beat you. Just when you think you have them beat, they win. Obama is becoming overconfident, he thinks she can’t catch him. It’s a rookie mistake, that will keep his supporters at home and bring her’s out. Don’t believe the KKKlintons are beaten until they are dead, creamated, and their ashes rocketed into the Sun. You’ll be sorry.

That’s because there are no polls for Texas. The only one I found was from May of last year which makes it worthless.

A good question would be: Can Hillary concede and bow out gracefully if she gets beaten in these upcoming primaries?

Obama can’t mathematically get to the magic number, no matter what happens. But neither can Hillary. Best guess is that Hillary will still be behind Obama though. Then how would it look if Bill strong arms super delegates to put Hillary over the top.

Lets hope she can win TX PN and OH.

We need the RATS to have a nasty convention battle and then give the nomination to the beast.

It will drive the Obama YoMama dip wads nuts and nix the RAT turnout in Nov.

If they wind up at each others throat it will keep them from BOTH being on the same ticket!

Go Hildabeast! Go Nader! Let the RATS snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

We need Hillary Clinton to go the convention behind Obama by at least 100 to 150 in pledged delegates and try to win the nomination through the super delegates. This will assure that she will lose the elections in November. That is why her wins in Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania should not be that big, not better than 5% points.

No surprise for me!

so even if Obama is ahead in pledged delegates, do you expect the Clintons to pull it out somehow?

It could get messy if they have to twist arms of super delegates. It could also get messy if the business of the Florida and Michigan delegates has to be hashed out right there at the convention. we’ll see. get popcorn.

I'm no expert in the Rat nominating process, but it seem that if the Beast wins, no matter how it is accomplished, there will be a large contingent of Blacks and groupies that will be bitter and not actively support her. Is it wrong to speculate that the only chance of a a Dem defeat in November is with her on the ballot, and she could lose by double digits if she manages to split the party sufficiently?

Obama's not even a rookie. Compared to the Clintons, he's strictly junior varsity. They may just finish him yet.

We need to pray Hil wins. Obama and his followers will call for a jihad against the ‘thiefs of the nomination.’ After all, Hil is hated by 50% of voters already. The GOP can actually defeat her. Obama is iffy.

I agree, I hate Hillary and I’m enjoying her misery but she will be easier to beat than Obama. No one can say anything negative about Obama (even if it’s just to bring up his own record) without someone screaming “racist”.

Exactly. A few days ago her firewall was OH and TX on March 4th. Now they've substituted PA for TX. She'll lose TX and then say "Wait until PA!" But PA doesn't vote until April 22nd! The torture never stops, folks!

Rush was crunching the numbers a couple days ago, and he calculated that Hillary would have to win all the states that she is running ahead in by over a 70/30 margin and lose the states that Obama is ahead in by very slim margins to break even with Obama in the state delegate count. Which is simply not going to happen. Hillary knows that she has already lost the state delegate count... That is why Hillary is turning her campaign toward wining and dining the super delegates and sending the lawyers out to get the Florida/Michigan delegates seated.

What is going to be interesting is to see how Obama's supporters react when they find out that theyv'e been screwed over like an oval office intern by the Clinton machine. It should be an interesting show, I think I'll bust out the popcorn when the excrement hits the fan...
