Laura Ingraham, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and the Conservative Talk Radio Party (CTRP) took a meaningless beauty contest of fewer than 10,000 people in Maine and spun it up nicely on Monday to assure listeners across the country that Maine was proof positive the other McCain surge wasn't working.

To be fair, Romney trounced McCain in the weekend caucuses. From various reports, it was pretty clear that the Romney people had a plan and executed that plan flawlessly. The McCain people, on the other hand, had little or no organization -- and it showed. more..

What a bunch of crap. The liberal msm are the ones who play up the stupid Iowa caucuses when a lousy 2 or 3 thousand people decide. Maine was a much bigger caucus and gets down played by them as meaningless.

Maine? That’s way up there, almost in Canada! Those people don’t count!

Politicker ME dot blog.

It sounds like the emphasis for this author is on the ME - and it doesn’t stand for Maine.

G. Gordon Liddy’s got a few stations up there - he’s endorsing McCain - which is Very, Very Strange.

Well, they do have a point. In Maine, we were told by the party that all delegates by party rule are uncommmitted. I’m not sure what that means. We chose our national delegates in May—and it’s not based on the caucus vote. SO the real election that matters will be in May. Either way—I thought the Romney team did a great job here in Maine.

I’m not surprised Liddy is endorsing McCain. I think politically and attitudinally, they are very similar.

If these “liberals” are so sure of themselves, why do they take it upon themselves to lie extravagantly about what conservatives are doing?

Um, actually, more than 100,000 people voted in the Iowa GOP caucus this time. Huckabee won 40,000. You must be an advocate of new math to think that Maine’s caucus is bigger than Iowa’s.

G. Gordon Liddy
________________

The Nixon strategy was to compromise on policy while beating the piss out of the Dems with nuts and bolts politics. Watergate stopped us from finding out if it would have worked and ultimately allowed a more conservative set of policies. Reagan showed that the compromising of Nixon and that wing of the party was not necessary at that point in time. But the old Nixon folks are just not ideological conservatives . . . never really were. More brass knuckle type political fighters. Winning is what is important. If the indoctrination of the young through public schools, universities and the media is effective we may have to go back to a Nixon type strategy for awhile.

Ah, sorry. I am in agreement. Iowa is overrated, and Huck will pretty much be done today. You are quite right.

G. Gordon has a dedicated core of listeners here. Of course, that doesn't mean that they will do what GGL tells them to do.

Furthermore, McCain had no organization 'round here. Romney's people had the money to plan their work, and they worked their plan. Romney just delivered a long-distance lecture on corporate project planning.

Whatever Republicans are left in Maine respected Romney's thoroughness, if not the man himself.
