The euroweenie ‘military’ are by and large, meals on wheels as far as training and equipment for use outside of their own borders. Inside of their home turf they would be formidable.
The Brits are cutting military funding so far back they will soon have no effective force to project anywhere outside of the UK. They are now borrowing airlift from Poland.....for Pete’s sake.
Several of the pols running today scare me - we could wind up with less military than the Brits in 4 years if we are not careful....
well,France is the boss of the Chad’s government.
Sudan is the boss of the rebels in Chad.
China is the boss of Sudan government.
So China is the boss’s boss of the rebels in Chad
Chad = former French colony & they still have business interests there.
China = Sudan + Dafur, and funding the Chad rebellion. Why> OIL for China.
We seem to missing the boat on this (oil) part with our actions in the SWA AO.
In the old days commies gave away guns/ammo/revolution to push Communism - now, it would seem, they are just in it for the money.
“The trooper in the photo is carrying a FAMAS G2 (5.56x45 NATO) - I cannot see any patches but the armor in the background looks to be a Panhard variant.”
If I’m not mistaken, they are VAB (Véhicules de l’Avant Blindés, or Forward Armoured Vehicles) infantry transports. Armament is usually a .50 machine-gun or a 20mm gun, but you have variants with 4 HOT anti-tanks missiles.
And anyone wanting to diss this guy or his outfit is welcome to try in person. Come on, it’s just a French soldier, he’ll surrender, right ? Right ? /sarc
Tht’s been my point for years - the ordinary, never leave France, grunt may not be very formidable, esp when off his/her home turf.
The paras and the Legion, on the other hand, are pretty much happy to kick anyone’s backside...
