The Huckster wouldn’t know a Conservative if he increased taxes on one...

The point is that you lied.

Actually I read it carefully. You suggested my inability to predict which states will ratify a Human Life Amendment is a tacit admission that my support for Governor Huckabee is to make myself feel good, and has nothing to do with saving any babies. It seemed to me I had a choice between ignoring you and telling you to shove it.
Or, it means that you are faced with the fact that Huckabee's preference (and yours) for an HLA accomplishes exactly 0, zero, nada, nothing. And you can't point to the states which would pass the amendment. And that doesn't even address the fact that it would never make it through the House and Senate.
So, you may want to tell me to shove it. But your ideas are Quixotic at best and self-righteously stupid at worst.
The point is that I had read plenty of statements from Thompson where he unequivocally stated that life begins at conception. I was unaware of his support for 1st trimester abortions, a support he did reiterate during the campaign, but neither did he deny it (which your statement made me research and realize). At that point, I admitted that you had made a good point. You can call that a lie if you'd like.
You responded with the grace and humility that we've come to expect from Mike Huckabee himself.
should be "a support he did NOT reiterate during the campaign, but neither did he deny it"
If Huckabee was serious about being a contender, then why has he been more critical towards the second place candidate Romney as opposed to his kid gloves treatment of the frontrunner McCain? What a fake this guy is.

Actually they’re not.

I’m not calling that a lie. You lied when you said I copied the post about Senator Thompson from another site.

Senator Thompson reiterated his opposition to state laws banning abortion to Tim Russert on November 7, 2007:
When I saw—and again, ALL CONSISTENT WITH WHAT IVE SAID [emphasis mine]. I—people ask me hypothetically, you know, okay, it goes back to the states. Somebody comes up with a bill, and they say were going to outlaw this, that or the other. And my response was I do not think it is a wise thing to criminalize young girls and perhaps their parents as aiders and abettors or perhaps their family physician... I do not think that you can have a, a, a law that would be effective and that would be the right thing to do ...

There are probably several reasons, one of which is that Governor Romney is actually a worse candidate than Senator McCain. A wolf isn’t as bad as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Here’s what Governor Huckabee himself said on Thursday:
“And for me, give me a guy that I disagree with but at least I know hes speaking from his convictions, and its not just a convenient political view that hes taking because, ‘Today Im talking to a womens group, so Im pro woman, but tomorrow Im talking to a mens group, so Im not.’ Thats what disturbs me, and I think its the kind of politics that just really turns people off.”

Second, you really protest too much. I've learned that the guilty dog (I know that's a bad choice of words in this case) usually barks the loudest.
Finally, crime or not, there aren't many who would argue that this behavior is not wierd and wrong. There is such a thing as ethical and moral behavior. I would hope any person considered for the presidency has the ability to instill a moral compass in his children. That hasn't been proven in Mr. Huckabee's case.
I hope you don't have a dog.

Maybe I should have called it “the Snopes article for which you thanked ‘khnyny’ in post #81.”
“Honeybunch” wrote: “Second, you really protest too much.”
Actually the intensity of my protest is entirely appropriate for the kind of lies I’m protesting.
“Honeybunch” wrote: “I’ve learned that the guilty dog (I know that’s a bad choice of words in this case) usually barks the loudest.”
How do you claim to have learned that?

How could you possibly know that?
