Americans For Fair Taxation ^

Second Life world Previous Event Next Event

The inaugural Second Life FairTax Rally kicks off this Saturday, February 2, 2008 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Second Life (Pacific) Time. The Rally will take place at the FairTax Supporter's Center. To find the Supporter's Center, log into the Second Life Web site, go to Search, click on the places tab, type in Fairtax Supporter's Center, and click teleport. The Supporter's Center is located at the following coordinates: Tipaskan, 172, 146, 38.

The FairTax plan has gained great momentum over the past few years, largely stemming from energetic rallies held nationwide. These rallies have drawn crowds numbering well into the thousands, and have been covered by several news agencies, including CNN and Fox News (see the Fox News clip about the SC rally »). And now, we seek to bring this energy into Second Life with an exclusive, in-world rally. This rally is unique in that not only is it taking place in a virtual world, but unlike the others, it is one that you can attend from the comfort of your own home, without worrying about gas prices, car expenses, or taking off work. We are also trying our best to line up some live music performances, and we will be giving out free (in game) Fairtax jackets.

Second Life (abbreviated as SL) is an Internet-based virtual world launched in 2003, developed by Linden Research, Inc. (commonly referred to as Linden Lab). A downloadable client program called the Second Life Viewer enables its users, called "Residents", to interact with each other through motional avatars, providing an advanced level of a social network service combined with general aspects of a metaverse. Residents can explore, meet other Residents, socialize, participate in individual and group activities, create and trade items (virtual property) and services from one another.

Date: Saturday, February 2, 2008 Time: 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM

I hope not. SecondLife is the most hyped, useless and annoying internet phenomenom of recent. It’s already in decline anyway.

Funny, I’ve been using it for some virtual educational seminars. Mostly, the back-end tool, MultiVerse, is great for creating avatars and environments for educational programs.

Posters on both sides of the Fair Tax debate: Stay on topic. Stick to discussing the reasons why you agree or disagree with the proposal.

The level of personal attacks and vitriol that we've seen lately on Fair Tax threads will no longer be allowed to stay up.
