(IsraelNN.com) US President George W. Bush delivered his State of the Union address Monday evening, praising the 2005 election of Mahmoud Abbas and once again calling for a Palestinian state.
Bush lauded the election of Fatah chief Mahmoud Abbas in 2005 as PA chairman as proof of a rejection of terrorism among PA Arabs. We are also standing against the forces of extremism in the Holy Land, where we have new cause for hope. Palestinians have elected a president who recognizes that confronting terror is essential to achieving a state where his people can live in dignity and at peace with Israel, Bush said.

Bush seemed to scale back his insistence on the establishment of a Palestinian state within this year regardless of any action against terrorism, seeking rather to define such a state by then. This month in Ramallah and Jerusalem, I assured leaders from both sides that America will do, and I will do, everything we can to help them achieve a peace agreement that defines a Palestinian state by the end of this year. The time has come for a Holy Land where a democratic Israel and a democratic Palestine live side-by-side in peace.
Side-by-side in peace? Fat chance .........
fyi
and once again calling for a Palestinian state.

now that...is a Bushism to be ridiculed
this thing sure won’t work out the way he portrays it; that much is for certain ...
but then, it’s going to play out according to the will of the God of Israel anyways ... we protest, but I don’t think they’re listening ...
Why not go back to 96, 84, 63? What we have to deal with is the reality on the ground right now, and talking about Abu Mazen is pointless.
He’s a die hard punk and Hamas is just hopeless. Look at the border fense with Egypt. These folks are going to play screw you into the ground games until the end of time.
If Israel is stupid enough to sign on to some agreement, it will get royally screwed in the process.
I sincerely hope Israel takes a pass on this whole thing.
If Palestine ever gets statehood without real concessions and honesty, Israel will have committed suicide.
The U.N. will back every single thing the Palestinian state does at Israel’s expense.
The Palestinian state will arm for war over Israel’s objections, and it will attack in it’s own time, the civilized world be damned.
I don’t know how, but that land is going to be divided -— and then ... “disaster” is too small a word ...
Daniel 11:37-39
A “strange god” honored and the land of Israel divided ...
sure sounds like today’s headlines ... and fools trying to find “common ground” with islam and their moon gawd ...
When I see what is taking place in the U.S. today, it is just shocking to me. We have lost our way. When you couple that with Israel, the recent war in Lebanon and the fact that it has also lost it’s way, I see the end bearing down on us at about 150 mph.
I could very easily see events transpiring in a manner to complete prophecy within a few short years, if the pieces fell into place just so.
In a way it’s sad. In another, it’s finally time. I don’t think there’s much doubt where we’re headed with cloning and the manipulation of nature, at some point it all becomes pointless to let this play out any longer.
I think it’s probably more important today to get yourself in order than to bother with politics any longer. That’s just about out of our control too.
Another FReeper, saying she wasn’t joking, wondered if we were going to make it January, 2009 ... she wasn’t sure we were ...
I wondered the same thing too, as I had the exact same concerns as she ... we’ve got a lot of sellouts at the top and vying for the top ... meanwhile the Russkies are giving nuclear fuel to the mullahs ... and Pakistan is looking more unstable these days ...
And you’re absolutely correct on all those points ... see the links I posted on this other thread ...

Unfortunately the administration can't recognize a palestinian terrorist staring them in the face, only after they spit in our eyes.

And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation in every region now has a decision to make: Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists.
From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime. --Partial transcript of President Bush's address to a joint session of Congress on Thursday night, September 20, 2001...
What a difference. How desperately sad.
Post #11 brought tears to my eyes, as a patriot and as a Christian.
I meant post #7.
