Your first name wouldn’t be “Iva,” would it? ;)

No it's not.

I was given that nickname by someone before I was 2 years old and, since I am now over 60, I guess I'm stuck with it.

Perry specifically named Gov Brisco...said he talked to him and Brisco himself told him of the opposition

Also you may note this link Gov Brisco

I see what you are saying. Briscoe supported the system as a legislator. By the time he became governor, it had already been in place for quite awhile.

Briscoe is a credible source. As for Rick Perry, well . . .

Don’t forget that the FM roads don’t prevent the state from building or improving other roads nearby.

What really sucks is Perry is crashing the Republican party and doesn't care. I think he's going to personally become a billionaire off the corridor and walk away from politics. He was originally a Democrat, so there's no party loyalty.

In fact, I sometimes wonder if Perry is deliberately trying to crash the Republican party in Texas. He couldn't be doing a better job of it.

Just walked in the door from attending yet another VERY large townhall meeting, the second in two weeks, here in Huntsville and I must tell you that a great deal more loathing was heaped on the idea here this evening. Many questions were asked and answers were given but I doubt that many minds were changed amongst THIS, overwhelmingly anti crowd.

My purpose in posting this is two fold. First I thought you would want to know, and secondly I want you to know that although I tried I did not get a chance to ask MY question and hope that one of you will ask it if you have the opportunity.

The question is:

Does anyone anywhere know, with any amount of precision, just how much currently taxable property would need to be purchased and taken of the tax rolls for this project?

I’m assuming most of the land taken will be taxable land. You certainly would have a hard time running the highway through government or unclaimed land, since the environMENTALs would be all over you.

Yes but how much is that exactly in acres or square miles and what is the current valuation of that amount? Do they know that? Do they CARE?

The remaining property owners are going to have to take up that slack you know!
