NY NOW blasts Kennedy for Obama endorsement

ALBANY - As we get closer to Super Tuesday there was a surprising and significant endorsement on the Democratic side as key members of the Kennedy family came out in support of Sen. Barack Obama.

The endorsement is getting harsh criticism from the New York chapter of the National Organization for Women. The group is calling this the ultimate betrayal of women.

The endorsement has also injected new energy into the local Obama campaign.

"I think that we're in a very bad climate in terms of women's rights right now and I think that it's sad to say, but I believe the old boy's club is out there saying, 'Anybody but a woman,'" said NOW NY President Marcia Pappas.

Before a roaring crowd at American University, two generations of Kennedys -- including Sen. Edward Kennedy -- pledged their support for Obama for president. It is an important endorsement that all the Democratic candidates wanted, bringing a fundraising and support network and political clout at a critical time.

This is a blow to Sen. Hillary Clinton. NOW NY calls it the greatest betrayal, saying in a statement, "We are repaid with his abandonment! He's picked the new guy over us. He's joined the list of progressive white men who can't or won't handle the prospect of a woman president who is Hillary Clinton."......."

Wrong, they need to ask Mary Jo Kopechne about "the untimate betrayal of women" Oh, that's right, they can't.

You know, this could get fun, except these harpies don't have the stamina.

With NOW complaining about "anybody except a woman" and NAACP, et al, complaining about "anybody but a black person", then it becomes a whining contest, and even Pretty Boy John starts to look good.

But if Hillary confesses to shooting Bill and shacking up with O'bama, my plan is off...

Even a few of the radical feminist blogs that I read — I think they’re funny, I have a distorted sense of humor —have called Miss Pappas “unhinged”, “hysterical”, and said that she “fuels the negative stereotypes associated with feminists” (or, as I would say, proves the voracity of such stereotypes).

For instance ... http://feministing.com/archives/008495.html#comments

They especially liked this previous NY-NOW press release, which headline refers to the “psychological gang-bang” of Hillary Clinton ...

They really look bad with this one. They are probably the only people who truly believe the reason Kennedy did this is because Hillary is female.

...and NOW was amazingly silent when Billy was sexually harassing, sexually assaulting, and raping women.

Go figure...

"He's joined the list of progressive white men who can't or won't handle the prospect of a woman president..."

Are the rich, white man-haters insinuating that all black men are effeminate male feminists?

who can't or won't handle the prospect of a woman president who is Hillary Clinton.

Which presupposes that Hillary is in fact a woman. She seems more like the anti-Stepford Wife.

They must have remarkably short memories...

Something that isn’t talked about too much is the lesbian influence in the women’s movemnt. Of course no one would argue that women should get equal pay for equal work-—but that pretty much is such an argument from the past it’s pretty much a dead issue. But when the issue of abortion and sex comes up, this is where the lesbian influence kicks in. There is a kind of thinking that on some level all sex with men is a form of rape or misogyny ...especially when that sex act begets a pregnancy. I am not saying that all feminists think this way, but it is a fairly common thread.

I’ve heard this of the N.A.G.s
“all sex with man and woman is rape”?
Well the gals had to resort to that cause that was the only way most would ever get laid. Poor fellas.

I would have think that NOW would have lost all credibility when it stood behind Bill Clinton despite his continued history of sexual harassment, and even some pretty credible allegations of rape.

NOW cares far more about their agenda than it does about women in general. If they thought Obama was better on their agenda, they would be backing him over Hillary.
