OSAKA Police on Thursday arrested a wanted man after a two-hour car chase that involved 2,240 officers, 460 police cars and one helicopter. Hirofumi Fukuda, 27, who had been wanted for assaulting police officers on Jan 21, was arrested after a chase through central Osaka. Around 11 a.m., police received an emergency call saying that a car was driving recklessly, ignoring traffic lights. When a patrol car approached the vehicle in question, it took off.
Police were mobilized throughout the area and a helicopter called in. The chase ended when Fukuda's car crashed into a bridge column. He sustained light injuries but no one else was injured in the chase.
Ping!
just because they called a mobilization doesn’t mean all those cops were following this guy. could you imagine a 461 car chase? it’d look like the pride parade through downtown san fransisco.
Or the Brues Brothers.
Blues Brothers Part Duh!
I wonder how much this cost the citizens of that city.
Here in L.A. I often wonder if these fools running from the police are doing it in order to enable accomplices to commit more serious crimes unimpeded.
Cannonbahr Run?
I heard it all started when a cop asked him what his last name was.
Leni
LOL
Why wasn’t this on Fox?
Why not throw in a couple hundred “guard men” for good measure?
No sh*t. You couldn't do anything like that in an American city, let alone in the confines of a Japanese city. Talk about a sensationalizing headline.
Exactly where did the chase start, continue and then end.? For example, Umeda down Midosuji to Namba and then east to Tsurahashi and ended in Yao.
Now it's coming here.
The cops in Japan are a joke . Around here you never see them until AFTER something happens . Then every cop in the radius of 50 miles shows up . Totally useless . The buggers are afraid of real work . I’ll never forget seeing them chasing the Japanese motorbike gangs down the streets of Saitama and Kanagawa at 2:00 in the morning in cars with speakers wailing ...” Stop ...Stop ...This is the police ...” And the young punks laughing and giving them the finger as they zoomed on . All thes cops are good for is giving directions and helping old ladies across the street .
The mall was abandoned in a suburb of Chicago. The production company contacted a bunch of the former franchise stores located in the mall and got them to stock the empty stores with real merchandise just for the nights of the shoots. The production company agreed to pay for any and all merchandise damaged/destroyed in the filming. They also hired security to guard the merchandise when nobody was present.
As it turns out, some security people they hired were apparently stealing merchandise when nobody was around.
Landis said they had to hire additional security guards to watch the original security guards.
.. .. Duh!
