Denver and Mountain View police apologized to members of the Hells Angels and settled a federal lawsuit over a 2005 traffic stop with a $14,000 payment to the bikers, their attorney said Thursday.

The apologies signed by Denver Manager of Safety Al LaCabe and Mountain View Police Chief Eric Gomez mark the second time Denver police have had to say "sorry" to the Hells Angels.

Apparently the Hells Angels are more knowledgeable about the law and have better lawyers than the cops and the cities.

I’m sure that they’re just a bunch of misunderstood, God-fearing men who happen to enjoy riding motorcycles.

The city of Denver apologized in 2001 for a raid on the bikers' clubhouse — where nothing illegal was found — and paid $50,000 to settle that lawsuit.

This time, lawyer David Lane sued the police over what he says was an unconstitutional traffic stop in Denver near the border of both cities. The lawsuit says eight Hells Angels were held at automatic rifle-point for more than an hour and searched without probable cause.

One was ticketed for speeding. Two were arrested for carrying concealed weapons.

Since the stop, one man has pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon by a previous offender. Charges against the other biker were dismissed.

—by the time the prosecutors in the big Laughlin, Nevada fracas of several years ago got through screwing up, we taxpayers are lucky the Angels and their lawyers didn’t end up owning the federal courthouse-—

Thanx for the article.LE agencies across the nation keep a close eye on the HA’s and other “one percenters”(Outlaws,Pagans,Banditos,etc...)Traffic stops and clubhouse raids/searches not uncommon. For more info read “Angels of Death” by Julian Sher and William Marsden.Interesting analysis on the HA’s.

I wouldn't call the angels role models from the FR crowd. The Angels of the 60s were just petty criminals, the remaining angels are more like the crips and bloods, especially in Canada.

And that was the real problem, the police who stopped them didn't have jurisdiction to issue traffic tickets on that side of the road.

“Interesting analysis”?

The author’s bias drips from the cover of that piece of trash excuse for a book.

The only thing “interesting”, is how after all of the cop’s illegal activity to obtain “evidence”, the 81 fellows manage to beat them every time they get their case in front of a jury.

Here where I live, crime by illegals is through the roof. MS-13 is supposedly moving into the area. But, the cops ignore them, while expending resources to watch and photograph everyone entering and leaving parties in public establishments where 81 members are present. Four or five undercover officers in seperate vehicles, with high-tech cameras, sitting across the street. Every now and then, they even get their helicopter up.

Then, they have the audacity to ask for more money to “fight crime”.

Yeah, right.

And they promptly went out and celebrated by stomping a Suzuki rider.

You mean like these guys?

Wheels of Grace

 or these?

Bikers for Christ

Just because you see a bunch of folks on bikes in leathers doesn't mean they are bad news. Some of us are helping to spread the Good News.

No, I was talking specifically about the HAs. They are an outlaw club that supports itself through methamphetamine manufacturing and various other criminal enterprises. Same goes for the Outlaws, Diablos, Devil’s Disciples, and many others. They’re nothing like the Christian bike groups. I’ve dealt with these groups professionally and know the difference.
