As Barack Obama said, the economic policies of Bush and the republicans have never worked and aren't going t0 work so just whats the point of cutting taxes if it aint going to make jobs for us or bring back our jobs?

Seven years ago, you and your husband saw there were no jobs in your entry-level careers and you did nothing? And now you’re blaming Bush because there still aren’t lots of jobs in entry-level careers?
Maybe its time to stop blaming Bush and start blaming yourselves for not taking control of your lives and careers.

I've been up double digits in my portfolio since 2002, and I am far from being "one of the rich." Even many Democratic economists have concluded that the tax cuts ended a rather mild recession following the tech bust and 9/11.

The tax policies did work.
Your husband worked in an industry strangled by Unions (Unions=Democrats).
You worked in an industry that has a higher turnover rate than a cheap whore.
Unemployment now is still lower than in the 90s and the rise that recently occurred is due to layoffs caused by crooked brokers and dumb ass bankers giving people like you loans they knew they could not afford.
So Buck Up. Move if you have to...I did...to find work. there are plenty of god paying jobs out there.
And stop drinking the KoolAid the Dems are serving, you like will improve dramatically.

Quit listening to Obama on the subject of economics. Buy a book by Dr. Thomas Sowell and you might just learn the answer to your question.
(Here's a hint: The "wealthy" pay nearly all taxes, and they also are the ones who create jobs.)

The “recession” seven years ago actually was well underway during the last year of the Clinton presidency. My sister was working at a temp placement agency in Los Angeles and placements were clearly drying up during the summer of the election. The MSM just sat on their hands in order to help Gore.
Second, the tax cut which occurred after Bush got elected did not CAUSE the downturn. If we had not already been in a downturn, Congress would not have agreed to a stimulus package.

We are much better off than we were seven years despite all the new taxes imposed on us by the democrats at state level. They obviously worked for us.
To: heartsafire
We had a recesion and as far as Im concerned we never recovered.
A recession is 2 consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth. There hasn't been an actual recession in the USA since 1983.
